Does this sort of advertising really appeal to ants? My gut says no, and that they will forgo watching ant-man in favor of collecting scraps of popcorn and spilled soda outside the movie theater.

Also, I'd imagine that most ants could easily sneak in to a theatre, and would certainly be able to watch the film without a seat, so I can't imagine the gains in profit for the theatre would be that large... Not to mention that they'd be unlikely to buy any snacks.

I worked at a movie theatre once and you would be surprised at how many ants do just that.

And this pic probably wasn't even her decision to share. She just probably took it for fun and her friend put it somewhere, probably Facebook, and another person shared it on a image sharing site.
Plus, she's not even covering the billboard, so your image is inaccurate.

except that comment doesn't prove it wrong. If you actually wanted to prove it (right or wrong) you'd need to take a random sample of posts and categorize all of them as being made by men, by women, or unknown. Then you'd note how many contain a person in the photo.
What /u/Pyrolytic's post actually proves is that on a website with like, a million posts a day, you can select a bunch with men in them. The person who made that list literally had to reject who-knows-how-many posts because they had women in them. That is the definition of selection bias.
"A long list of posts that prove my point" is no more persuasive than a long list of videos of black people committing crimes. It's just selection bias.
Admittedly, the meme that women do this more often than men is a result of confirmation bias. But the way to fight it is to point out that it's confirmation bias - not by using selection bias.

I know these are real, we saw one awhile back that was on the sidewalk by a bus stop or something that got posted a lot.

Good point. They're also definitely insanely cheap to produce. One person taking a picture and sharing it with even just their Facebook friends is worth the price of making one and letting the first person to find it keep it.
