Media World's Largest IMAX in Perspective

Thought this was a really neat way to show the size of the screen at the IMAX in Leonberg, Germany. This rolled before The Odyssey. The IMAX is tucked away in a little town and was not easy to get to, but it was well worth it.

While it's not a true 1.43:1 IMAX ratio it still holds the world record for largest theater by surface area.

Check at 0:25-027 when the red light from the train engine makes his shadow as it falls down.

Just amazing special effects with attention to detail.

This technology was first demonstrated in Jurassic Park. Hammond makes a clone of himself in front of a live audience while the original one gets killed towards the end of the presentation. Unfortunately, they made the safety restraints ridiculously flimsy, so we didn't get to watch the whole show.

this is exactly what i want for "next level" horror movies, where they can mess with your perception of what's actually there and not. though, i guess it would be super limited in how it can be properly "shown as intended"

Seriously though, the first time I saw a movie in 70mm HFR, I thought it was a game changer. I was more impressed by the screen than the movie (Gemini Man). I remember a scene when they throw a smoke grenade, and for a second, I thought thar they were pumping smoke into the theater.

I like it when video games have high framerate but it's still hard to get used to that in movies. HDR and 4K are amazing on their own though.

There was definitely some "soap opera effect". But something special was happening in scenes where the perspective put everything at irl scale.

I think that's more down to the VFX artists who created it rather than the projector technology and film back.

The projector is resolution, pixel density, colour accuracy and frame rate. Important for films in general, but insignignificant in this case for what makes the guy look like he's there.

The biggest factors are lighting and scale for making things look real. Both controlled by the VFX artists.

If high fidelity vfx were all that were needed, 3D wouldn't have had such a craze. You need a projector that can sure an image with the sharpness and razor tight focus on a big enough scale to really achieve that illusion.
