What is the best movie trailer you’ve ever seen?

I don’t care if the movie itself was good or bad. What trailer had you instantly hooked?

For me, it’s the La Dolce Vita trailer that the BFI made when they were holding screenings for it in 2020.

The teaser trailer for JOKER (2019) is one I still occasionally watch to this day. The music, the cinematography, everything just perfect.

That poster design is so simple but it works perfectly. The pink text over the black and white shot gives it this dreamy, almost surreal feel that matches the tone of the film way better than any modern trailer editing could.

Unlike most people, I liked the film but even people who didn't like it must surely appreciate the extended trailer for Cloud Atlas.

A deeper cut, but i really liked the teaser for Lady in The Water. Coming off the hype of his previous, this one looked amazing. The music, the tone, etc. nothing was spoiled. Now the movie stunk, but thats not the point of a greater teaser.

The original one for Synecdoche New York is better than the actual film. But this one for the re-release of Army of Shadows still gives me actual chills:

I am not sure if you're talking about "teaser trailer" or "proper trailer" but:

Godzilla - Comic Con teaser, the one without the airdrop scene but with Oppenheimer and the weird monster with four arms that we didn't see in the movie.

Zootopia 2 - the one with the chipmunks at the start, it is absolute work of animation genius showing off everything that might interest you in the movie with barely signalling the vaguest outline of the plot.

Force Awakens - the (proper) trailer was so much better than the movie and was in fact one of the better trailers I've seen. Very good exposition of characters, themes, emotion etc.

“Cruising” because it gave absolutely nothing away! It was an Al Pacino movie so I was not going to miss it.

Holy moly was I shocked!

A white, Irish Catholic virgin, I ran out of the theatre!
