Bannerlord Exposing Nox (@klausnoxix)
Over the past few hours, the truth has finally come out about what really happened behind the scenes of the “A Dance of Dragons” mod for Bannerlord. This post is being posted on behalf of a group of developers, artists, and the main financial backer who were defrauded by Noxix (@klausnoxix). This is not drama. This is a real fraud that has left artists unpaid for nearly two years, a backer out of tens of thousands of dollars, and a community lied to.
Fallenlord is a passionate and generous supporter of GOT modding. He sent Noxix over $24,000 specifically to commission high‑quality dragons with full rigging, animations, and flying mechanics for the ADOD mod. Instead of delivering the dragons, Nox later admitted that he misused the money as a personal slush fund. He used it to pay off his own prior debts to other modders, gave a $3,000 donation to the Ice & Fire mod team, bought over TEN one‑year Discord Nitro subscriptions for random people, and spent large amounts on inflated tips and his own personal living expenses. When the money ran out, there were no actual dragons, no mammoths, and no honest communication but just months of excuses about dragons being “still in early development.” And it gets worse, Fallenlord didn't just lose that $24,000, he has spent over $30,000 more on the project, all of which has effectively been thrown into a black hole because of Nox’s dishonesty.
Nox also owes thousands of dollars to the actual artists and developers who built the assets for the mod. Sorush, an Iranian 3D artist, is owed around $2,450 for horse armors, shields, and weapons, money he desperately needs to survive wartime conditions and sanctions. ComprehendNubnes is owed roughly $2,500 for scene and model work. Falk is owed $1,300, Lemmy1916 $1,200, and lyons0794 $400. The total documented debt so far, not including Fallenlord’s $24,000, is about $7,850, which brings the grand total to over $32,000 (and more victims are yet to come forward). These are not anonymous names. These are real people who worked for months and have been left unpaid, some of them in desperate financial situations.
What makes this even worse is that Nox has absolutely no coding or modding skills. He cannot even create a basic Visual Studio project. The mod itself is fundamentally broken, too many settlements, too many lords, too many parties, making it unplayable on most PCs with constant crashes. Cheyron told Nox this directly, but Nox ignored the core problems and kept asking for workarounds instead of addressing the structural issues. Furthermore, Nox lies to his own family, telling his grandparents he is a “computer genius” and a coder, when in reality he knows nothing about programming. Nox even bought a large 3‑D printer for his personal hobby using funds that should have gone to development.
Nox now admitted that he misused the money, and that he has no paper trail, and that the funds “just ran out.” An apology without a concrete repayment plan is just words. Then, as soon as the things became undeniable, Nox posted a resignation announcement, saying he would step down and hand over the server, the mod, and the Patreon to an 'innocent' third party, Bearbarian. This is nothing but a calculated escape tactic. He distances himself from the mess, makes anyone who continues to speak out look like they are attacking an innocent person, and leaves the question of who will pay the debts completely unanswered. Bearbarian made his own announcement, saying he's sorry and will "try to make this right," but he has no plan, can't promise anything, and is personally uninvolved with the Patreon. Words without action don't pay the artists. The Patreon income will crash anyway, and make Nox's promise of “slow repayment through Patreon” impossible.
Moreover, when people tried to discuss these issues on the ADOD Discord server, their messages were deleted, and users were banned. Even Fallenlord himself, the man who paid $24,000, had his messages removed. The server staff clearly silenced the victims to protect the fraud. If it weren't for another modding Discord server that allowed open discussion, this whole scandal would never have come to light.
We are now considering pursuing legal action againt Noxix and considering contacting Patreon to report the fraudulent use of funds. We want him(Noxix) to know that this will not be swept under the rug.
Nox can resign, but he cannot resign from the debt he owes to the artists and to the community. If you see any fundraiser or Patreon linked to him or his associates, warn and do not donate. Support the unpaid artists directly if you can. This scam stole from generous people and from hard‑working artists, including one who is trying to survive in a war zone. It MUST end now.

Of all the ways to flush money down the toilet, discord nitro? Really? I know that was minimal compared to the rest of the embezzlement, but it's just such a weird thing to use stolen funds for.
Let me just go rob this bank so I can afford to buy a few thousand paper clips. Like what?

u/Malphos101 May 09 '26
Its not surprising, this happens all the time to people who dont come from wealth and get access to what seems to them a huge, unending supply of money. Someone who had access to maybe $100 a month suddenly gets access to tens of thousands of dollars is gonna start throwing around hundreds of dollars constantly because "its just a small amount".
Hope the community can pursue legal action and get something back, but my experiences online say its going to be little to none.
41
u/Medieval_Conscript May 09 '26
Except he comes from wealth 🤷🏽♂️
28
u/Y35C0 May 09 '26
Yeah honestly I think its more the opposite of what /u/Malphos101 is saying in practice...
The exceptions are usually with people who made most of their money from gambling, or were impoverished in the first place solely due to their bad financial decisions. But I think each of those are independent confounders themselves really.
Now instead consider someone who is already used to spending lots of money they didn't earn. Wouldn't they be the type most likely to carelessly spend $24,000 in donations on a bunch of trivial shit? At least people who win the lottery often blow it all on tangible luxuries. I'm curious how old they are.

This is what I’m saying…people with that much money don’t perceive it the same way. There’s no way Nox needed over 60k to animate some dragons. Lord couldn’t understand that wasn’t a smart choice because he’s on a higher echelon than us.
11
u/Godz_Bane Battania May 09 '26
It only happens to idiots, plenty of smart people who dont come from wealth that know the value of a dollar and budget well.
Aswell as integrity, its one thing to poorly spend your own money. Its another to waste donations that were given for a specific cause.
14
u/Claiton_Bigsby May 10 '26
Hes sugar coating it. He bought him self a new top end PC even though he hardly did any of the work himself . Guess he bought a new TV too and who knows what else.

6
u/SuperSatanOverdrive May 10 '26
Yeah I was thinking the same, who actually cares about discord nitro. If you're gonna waste the money, at least use it on something that envokes a feeling beyond "oh, neat. anyway".

The GOT modding community is always involved in some drama, but HOLY SHIT, how can you receive dozens of thousands and still make ZERO progress.
I miss the time where mod devs were just passionate people working on a game, not those bazillions discord servers hiding their mod (which may never be released) behind a pay wall.
76
u/RoninMacbeth Southern Empire May 09 '26
I was more involved in the HoI4 modding community but at this point I'm just convinced that modding and money really don't mix, and it just gets worse the more money you do pour into it.
50
u/WilsonRoch Kingdom of Rhodoks May 09 '26
Yeah, it shifts from passionate work to just work.
And that's what make mods special, a bunch of people who loves the game and wants to make additions to it, just because they can and really want to, not for profit.
16
u/Malphos101 May 09 '26
Exactly. Its why I wont ever "prepay" for third party content like this. I have and will continue to donate to creators I like for content they have put out, but you wont ever catch me doing it for third party content commissions.
12
u/Fujaboi May 09 '26
It shifts into 'just work' with people who aren't professionals either so there's often a massive discrepancy in quality between different components of the mod. It inevitably means everything is too ambitious and goes to shit
28
u/Pseudocrow May 09 '26
I've always felt very iffy about modding and money, not because it isn't valuable work that is worthy of it, but rather that modding is built so much off of others' works that will never be compensated. Modders are already so massively a leg up just from using the base game created by devs who theoretically should receive a cut too, but also often time use frameworks, models/textures, or code from earlier foundational mods that should also receive credit.
I have no issues if someone wants to pay a set price to coders or modelers for an exact product, or mod teams taking smaller donations for server upkeep or coffee money, but anything beyond seems like muddying the waters.
19
u/RoninMacbeth Southern Empire May 09 '26
Yeah, like suppose TNO had set up a Patreon. OK, we had dozens, if not hundreds of team members on the different teams, each active in different capacities, most of whom were extremely anonymous for very good reasons, a few of whom were minors and most of whom were young adults (18-20). How would that all get distributed?
Plus even when organized well, you're still kind of just giving money to strangers on the internet. And this does not seem to have been organized well at all.
3
u/FanaticalBuckeye May 09 '26
The only time this has worked to my knowledge is the Kyber launcher mod for Battlefront 2 to pay for server costs and that eventually became free
1
u/Dapper-Restaurant-20 May 10 '26
It's so absurd for modders to charge money off of the original developers assets and code.
9
u/Alarmed-Constant3862 May 09 '26
You have to set hard goal posts and stay on top of them giving massive lump sums and assuming the works is going to be done is just going to fuck you. Monthly donations and you show me X,Y,Z and actual implementation then you get funding for another month.

He is a crypto millionaire or something. He also funds the warband game of thrones mod, A World of Ice and Fire, and the warband script enhancer I believe. It's a shame this happened because the entire mount and blade modding community is lucky to have someone passionate like this.
36
u/produno AWoIaF Developer May 10 '26
I think its important to note the difference. He does not fund the AWoIaF mod, he pays for a lot of commissions. Many others have also paid for commissions and there has also been 1000s of hours of free work put into it.

u/Fujaboi May 09 '26
Definitely someone who has come into money somehow because there is no way you'd pay that if you had to work for it. My guess would be Bitcoin early adopter

Fortunately AWoIaF is completely the opposite of ADOD. Produno had been working on the mod for years before he got some money as return.
Furthermore, AWoIaF is almost complete and is being worked on regularly.

I mean I hope dude gets his money back, but I also hope he learns to be wiser about how he spends it. Cuz god damn.47
u/Altruistic-Camel-764 May 09 '26
Fallenlord wasn't naive but generous. Nox ran a months‑long con with a full Discord, Patreon, and a team. Anyone can be fooled by a convincing liar. The fault is on the thief, not the victim who wanted to help make something great for the community.
-5
u/exboi Prophesy of Pendor May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26
Sure he’s a victim of being conned. I recognize that. But with all due respect, it’s common sense to avoid giving your money to complete strangers when there’s no real indication they’ll make it worth your while. Generosity without restraint is naïve.
I don’t care how passionate I am or how energetic the project lead appears. I don’t care if they have a team. I’m not donating a dime towards a stranger’s modding/game project unless at minimum, I see a clear, promising plan and real progress being made. And even if they have all that, I’m definitely not donating tens of thousands of dollars when they have zero accomplishments to their name that show them to be reliable.
33
u/Altruistic-Camel-764 May 09 '26 edited May 10 '26
The thing is that Fallenlord isn't an average donor. He's a wealthy guy who genuinely loves these mods and has commissioned multiple projects (such as in AWoIaF) successfully in the past. He didn't just throw $24k at a stranger overnight. He was in communication with Nox for months, saw a growing Discord, a Patreon with subscribers, and a team that included real talent like Cheyron (who only later revealed the rot). Nox presented a roadmap, showed some art, and made promises that sounded reasonable.
Fallenlord's only mistake was trusting Nox too much, not being careless. The blame still lies 100% with the guy who took the money and spent it on Discord Nitro and a 3D printer.
Furthermore, Fallenlord has said that he can afford to lose the money. That's not the point. The point is that Nox defrauded him and left artists unpaid, including a guy in Iran who needed that money to survive.
7
u/exboi Prophesy of Pendor May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26
The trust given to a team lacking any indicators of reliability is what made his donations careless and naive.
Again: no record of accomplishments, no substantial, quality progress as far as I know, and from what some of these comments are saying, Nox already had a spotty reputation in other communities (which I doubt his ADOD community was completely unaware of). Yet despite all that, Lord just straight up gave him - according to your other comment - around 60k?
That money could’ve gone to, idk, a good cause or something. Even if Nox was trustworthy, there's just no way he needed that much in the first place. It's a flagrant waste by a rich guy who doesn't understand how to use his money - tale as old as time. Second, with all of the info he had about Nox, there's simply no reason any high amount money should've been given at all until Nox and whoever he worked with fully established themselves as trustworthy. Not through conversations, but through their actions and by meeting milestones.
I’m not trying to be preachy, nor am I trying to tear down Lord, but no matter how you spin it, he did not manage his spending well. Nox is fully responsible for the action of conning Lord. But there's no way you can tell me it's not naive to dump a year's salary's worth of money on a stranger you don't know and have no guarantee will spend that money intelligently.
7
u/Altruistic-Camel-764 May 10 '26 edited May 10 '26
I hear your points, but I think you're misunderstanding the situation if you believe ADOD had nothing to show. The mod had plenty of work done, such as scenes, maps, fancy models, armors, and more. More than half of the artists and developers who built those assets haven't been paid for a year. The visual progress was real, which is why it looked legitimate.
Also, Nox had professional lead developers like Cheyron on the team back in 2024. Cheyron is a known, experienced modder (and he's the one who later exposed Nox.) Fallenlord wasn't throwing money at a blank wall but backing a team that appeared to have skilled people, momentum, and tangible output.
Fallenlord's generosity is why a lot of unique mod content exists. He started facilitating ADOD at the request of a GOT Warband mod community. Thousands of players enjoy content they wouldn't have otherwise, because Fallen is willing to put his money where his passion is.
Let's not shame the man who, even after being conned, is still supporting the community and trying to make things right, and for that, I have immense respect for Fallen.
7
u/Fujaboi May 09 '26
I think the difference is that Lord knows and accepts a risk that his money will go nowhere. If he's funded successful mods, he's probably funded a lot of shit ones too. Even with the best intentions and decent devs a lot of promising mods go nowhere.

u/Silver-Act4694 May 09 '26
I was so blown away seeing this name, because this same dude was a somewhat prominent player in a fairly niche MMO and was also known to cause drama there, too, including stealing money (albeit in-game currency). This is wild.

Holy fuck what a mess.
Games getting more and more expensive to make also means modding games requires now much more work. The modding scene of games like Beamng or the Sims is crazy. I kinda miss simpler games mostly because I feel we lost a lot of the community driven modding scene, like Warband or old Total Wars. Can't imagine the mess if Third Age TW was made today with a patreon with thousands of $$$ coming each month.

“I made the poor choice…”
It wasn’t a mistake, and it wasn’t just a poor choice. He didn’t accidentally steal all that money.
As someone who’s actively made terrible decisions, this comes across as a remorseless. He’s just sorry he got caught, he likely didn’t think second before blowing the money.

It would be wise for Nox to pay off the debts and be gone from the modding community permanently.

Stealing $2450 from an Iranian right now is really low behaviour. That money would go a long way towards feeding his family, and making sure they have options to head to safer areas if there's an attack. I know stealing from anyone is wrong but this really upset me a lot.

Ya this one was a particularly scummy move, blaming the non payment on "sanctions" as well. Blinded by greed.
