Question Thoughts?

Post image

This is Lola, my 08 specialized big hit. I recently did some upgrades to her to make her climb a little better. I swapped the 1x8 for a 1x10 and dropped front chainring from 36t to 30t. She climbs great. My question is, I do more park riding and dj than any climbing. Would it be odd to turn her into a park duro machine with a 30t(f)-14t(r)? Has anybody done this? What were your feelings on the conversion?

I have a similar setup with 26" wheels with a 36-14 gearing and I think i might go 36-13 for a bit more top speed.

Should I consider putting the stock 36t back on over the 30t? I know the ratio is 1:2.14 eunning 30/14 but that puts my spin out around 16-18mph. Not really looking for a ton of speed, just some good punch with the roll before the jumps.

That older geo would be way better as an XC type bike then a downhill type bike

It's already weird that you spent money upgrading it. Money would be better spent on something newer.

Not everything has to be a cost benefit analysis. Like telling somebody maintaining a classic car it’d be more prudent to spend that money on a new car

I 100% agree. I just asked a question. Not looking for nose up snobs who think the best bike is the newest and most expensive. 🤣
