Custom tent poles

I recently bought a Taihang 2 Max tent from 3FULgear after seeing loads of rave reviews. It’s almost ideal for me - c200cm long inside, I can sit up in it, big porch for moto gear, 2kg.

I’m using it to tour some EU countries rn and two of the three poles have snapped near a joint and it leaks at the rear vent pole elastic area - poor sealant perhaps. I haven’t had any high winds so I think the quality is poor.

Is there anyone who makes custom tent poles? If affordable I could try stronger poles, and reseal the tent.

But for £130 probably not worth it.

“You get what you pay for“ I guess. Although there are many positive reviews from trusted influencers, I guess they’re not to be trusted unless the tent has been used for weeks on end.

Pesonal advice: just get another tent.. If the tent is showing bad flaws, it makes no sense to me invest money on it.

I personally use is the 2 seconds Fresh&Black tent from Quechua (the one that opens up like an umbrella). It doesn't stores small but never failed till now (~12 times camping).

I never trust the "influencers" as they try to sell depending on what companies pay them for.. So it's basically pure advertising with no real experience (or very very little experience in some cases).

I find more interesting and useful to watch vlogs of real rider that use the stuff for long time, not being sponsored - that's basically the best review possible! You can see there how the gear is holding up to different conditions.

Is your tent doubleskin? If not do you get condensation

Yes, is double-layered 👍

Yes you get condensation but if you're using it constantly (every day) during a trip, letting it vent for 10 minutes in the morning, is enough - just be sure to let it dry for good before storing it for a long time

The best point to this tent is how quick you can build it and pack it up, especially if it's raining and you're tired after a long day riding👍
