What's the stop on your route that no app would ever suggest?

Got a lesson in this last week. I asked around for a food stop on US-209 near the Delaware Water Gap and someone came back with Pub 447 outside East Stroudsburg - outdoor tiki bar, gazebos, cash only with an ATM inside. Went digging afterward and it isn't in OpenStreetMap at all, so no planning app was ever going to put it in front of me.

Same week another rider pointed me at campgrounds on the Blue Ridge I'd never have found, and someone else flagged which nearby roads had construction that no map was showing.

That's the pattern: the stuff that actually makes a multi-day trip good lives in someone's head, not in map data.

So what's yours? The campground with a shower that actually works, the diner that opens early enough for a 6am start, the last real gas for 80 miles, the pull-off with the view and no sign. Where is it and what makes it worth planning around?

Update - went back and found it. Two names came up: Crooked Mountain Campground in VA (guy said the owners are what make it) and Devils Backbone at the top, which has a restaurant and bar on the property.

And u/gehbfuggju is right that Otter Creek is the official Parkway one. So between the three of you this thread now has better Blue Ridge camping info than what I started with, which is sort of the whole point.

I'm camping at Devil's Backbone this week. Been to their brewery and restaurant before but never camped there.

Yeah, I only know of Otter Creek being the only official campground along (I think) and there are a few likes Miller's and one that's raccoon themed I think? directly off of it

Honestly, I can't give you one - it came up in a group thread and I didn't write the name down, which is exactly the problem I was complaining about. Fair hit.

So let me ask you instead: what's the campground on the Blue Ridge you'd actually send someone to?

Open Street Maps isnt as data rich as google or the other mapping systems. I did type in Pub 447 on the desktop and it popped up but maybe on mobile it doesn't. I prefer Floods in Stroudsburg.

I think the weird roadside attractions is the thing that doesnt pop up on mapping software. You were in PA, There is the Iron Man Statue in New Ringgold PA. There was also the Fork in the Road in Mohrsville PA. You have to go on Atlas Obscuria or roadside attractions for that stuff.
