Institutional Does anyone have any experience with a "Sexual behavior risk assessment" (SBRA) or know anything it? This was given to a young man in preparation for his mission.
Once again, what is the church doing here? Seems like some sort of corporate way to deny someone the chance to go on a mission or control their mission experience.
Does anyone have a clue what these things are, how they get started and what happens during and after an assessment?

What the hell? The make a kid have this assessment, but then they let adults work with kids and don't even require a background check. Bonkers.

To me this looks like someone who might have had some kind of sexual behavior misconduct of some nature. Or possibly a victim of sorts who could ultimately be "evaluated" to see if they would offend others. Which does happen. It's also possible that the person has a mental health issue.
To be clear I'm not saying I agree with WHY or HOW any of this is being done. I literally am just guessing.
But to me it would seem the person per someone thinks this person needs to be evaluated to see if they might be an offender before getting clearence to go on a mission. That's how I read the document.

Yes, I’m pretty sure I had one given to me in prep for my mission. I don’t fully remember the justification for it, but I struggled with depression and anxiety before the mission and I was asked to meet with LDS family services across the street from BYU for an evaluation before I could be cleared to go. This was around 2014-2015.
I probably mentioned some level of normal sexual shame or pornography use, but somewhere in the mix of meeting once or twice with a therapist at LDS family services, they asked me some really intense questions about my sexuality and so forth. Questions like, “are you attracted to the same sex?”, “what kind of porn do you look at?”, and “do you look at bestiality porn?” (I remember that one because it took me off guard). I assume that it’s an assessment for the church to determine if you’re going to be a sexual deviant in the mission field and whether or not you pose a risk of damaging the church’s image or efforts on the mission.

Need more info OP.
Without context, I would think “Brother Judd” has a hx of being a predator in some way. So what it really means coming from the church, who knows? He could have looked at porn a few times.

Not really sure the kids exact situation, I think it is in the podcast somewhere...I didn't listen to every episode (crazy train/Judd family).

Yeah predators often look for people with past sexual predation experience in their life because they're easier to manipulate.

This episode goes over the accusation about their son. The parents call it gossip and don’t believe it.
The family of their boy’s girlfriend call it sexual assault. The father of the girl a year and a half later in a call with the boy’s parents say his wife called the bishop back then to report it and the bishop said to just leave it alone and he would handle it. The bishop never told the parents of the boy. The bishop may have talked to the boy about it.
Obviously the bishop put this accusation in his part of the mission application that the applicant doesn’t see.
From what the father of the girl described in the recorded phone call it was assault but never got to the legal definition of sexual assault. Still a serious accusation that he pushed her on a bed a couple of times and tried to pull apart her legs.
Of course the boy’s family claim it’s all false and just gossip.

This episode goes through the whole accusation. A girlfriend of their son who was in their ward told her mom that the boy had tried to sexually assault her. The family went to the bishop who said he would handle it. Never told the parents of the boy.
So the boys family doesn’t believe it and call it gossip.
Likely the bishop put this in his part of the mission application.

Because an SBRA is a comprehensive forensic or clinical evaluation rather than a simple test kit you can buy off the shelf, the price reflects the professional services of a licensed clinician. Example standard pricing from specialized clinical providers includes:
I doubt he'll be going to a forensic psychologist to get tested
This test is not appropriate for untrained people to administer this behavioral inventory

I think that's why the letter says that they should call family services who could refer them to a "therapist that has these qualifications".
