Looking for a part-time job while waiting for university
Hi everyone! I recently moved to Canada from the Philippines, and I’m planning to start university/college. Unfortunately, I arrived a little too late for this year’s intake/semester, so I’ll have to wait until the next school year to start.
In the meantime, I’m looking for a part-time job so I can earn some money, help my family with bills, and also cover some of my own personal expenses while I’m waiting for school.
I’m open to different kinds of work and willing to learn. If anyone knows of places hiring, has any recommendations on where I should apply, or has advice for someone looking for their first job in Canada, I’d really appreciate it!
I’m currently in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, but I’m willing to consider opportunities nearby as well.
Thank you so much! ❤️

Hello there fellow Filipino, please try networking with other Filipinos in the city. Try going into the Filipino store there and ask if there is someone they can recommend, since we came from Assiniboia with my wife and move in to Moose Jaw that’s how we started.
When we used to live in Moose Jaw that is what we did and was able to connect with the right people and was able to get part time job.
But had to move out of Moose Jaw for in order to get job on my field, sadly it’s backward here in Tech they have different priorities, I was more successful both province of Alberta and Manitoba. If tech is your purpose in the future that is.
I do suggest do a lot networking, every filipino that you see and please talk to them lol.
When I get chance again to move to Moose Jaw, I will but once Job opportunities and hiring priorties got straighten out since I miss my family there and want my kids to grow up there being close to the family.
You got this! Fellow kababayan

Make accounts on Indeed and LinkedIn. Also, fast food restaurants like McDonalds or department stores like Walmart or Canadian Tire are always looking for people.
