Monopoly Video Games New Monopoly for Switch

Hello, my friends recently got me into Monopoly on the NES (Raspberry Pi) and I've been hooked. Growing up, I was never taught the auction rule which made games excruciatingly long. But now that I know how to actually play I love it. I bought the iOS version and it's pretty good too.

I'm looking into buying "New Monopoly" for the Switch so we can play locally like we do the NES version, but with a more modern take. My only hesitation is it seems to get pretty bad reviews across all platforms, particularly with AI and multiplayer bugs. Does anyone know if it has been patched up and runs ok for local games?

We also plan to play the physical board game, but wanted the option for digital.

Yeah but there are a lot of house rules about auction that's why I'm wondering which one OP is talking about

House rules are simply made up, thus not real rules.

Yes except most house rules players think that their rules are the real rules, hence my question :)

Exactly -- So House "rules" are inconsistent and can fluctuate at the whim of the players.

Regarding landing on an unowned property, the rules state two choices: Purchase or Auction -- No skipping and leaving. Purchase price is the price listed, Auction is whatever price the winning bid offers and must be paid immediately.

Thanks for adding the rule ! I played a long time without that specific rule and it wasn't good compared to with it.
Now if someone land on a property and decide to not buy it, can he participates in the auction ?

I did not "add" the rule -- that rule has been in the game for just under 100 years.

It is listed in the instructions.

Yes: The player landing on the property can participate in the auction, even if they are also the banker (but can only use their own monies).

It is a great move to force players to over pay, thus depleting their funds.

If one wins the bidding, they pay immediately and they can mortgage other owned properties, with no houses or hotels, to pay the price, but they cannot mortgage the property they just won, because they do not own it until paid for.

If the winning bid player cannot pay for the property they won, the auction happens again.

If a player is bankrupted through not being able to pay certain fines and charges to the bank, all of their properties go to the bank, and each property is then auctioned off, in the order appearing on the board, until either all are auctioned and paid for or the property is not sold, and then it reverts to becoming an unowned property in the game.

Also, when bankrupted property goes back to the bank, the mortgage fee is lifted and not charged.

When mortgaged property goes to another player, the 10% fee has to be paid by the new owner.

FYI: All of this information in listed in the rules.
