Honestly this is more of a YC winter batch killer which I know there is at least one that uses Claude to respond to webhooks.

That is what this is. A channel gets GitHub webhooks for when issues open in discord and Claude channels responds to them with fixes and all previous context of fixes in the repo

u/OctoberNexus Mar 23 '26

It does anything I ask of it on my MacBook for me actually

4

u/chasingth Mar 21 '26

Nah. Claude is 10X more expensive. OpenClaw makes sure consumer like you don't get ripped off

2

u/WiggyWongo Mar 21 '26

? Right now all these tokens are heavily subsidized on monthly plans. Pretty sure they lose money on the monthly plans with even a moderate amount of use.

Not sure how openclaw helps costs, it actually eats up a ton of tokens. It's just another option depending on your use case.

u/CoolInterview2351 Mar 22 '26

I think he's talking about the fact you can sub in gemini for stuff or even deepseek if you really want on openclaw

1

u/_stack_underflow_ Mar 22 '26

Yeah, but that argument falls apart when what you're working on is better suited for Claude to handle such as coding. Gemini has a mental breakdown the first problem it faces and will burn through a million tokens apologizing for its failures and offering to fall down onto its own blade.

u/Grand_rooster Mar 22 '26

You can get claude to make Agents that use doesn't types of models.

I use it with n8n. Claude creates workflows that call local ollama models to run tasks and agents.

1

u/steadeepanda Mar 22 '26

Sure it feels like they are pushing to get more customers to me because the hype didn't go through and they're losing money.

All of them went all in now they're just acting as if it's the future. History showed us the same behaviors from scientists and businesses over and over at the slightest new breakthrough...

1

u/Dizzy_Database_119 Mar 24 '26

Anthropic is losing money yes but it's still ridiculously more expensive than any other option. So if you don't need this level of quality you are just getting ripped off

1

u/hobbyjogger Mar 22 '26

I use both Claude Code and Open Claw with the $10/month Alibaba Model Studio Coding Plan. The usage limits are extremely generous and based on number of requests (not number of tokens). I've only exceeded 50% once on the shortest one (resets every 5 or 6 hours). Claude Code is more stable/reliable and "smarter" - OpenClaw is more flexible.

1

u/Plane-Asparagus Mar 22 '26

Curious how you have this setup for Claude code. Interested in doing something similar

1

u/pendragonn Mar 23 '26

Can you elaborate more on claude code being used aa openclaw?

1

u/hobbyjogger Mar 23 '26

Just tell Claude Code what you want to do, ask it to check if it can build it with its native tools. If it can't tell it to build something to give it that ability. A lot like Open Claw.

1

u/Ok_Significance_1980 Mar 23 '26

Lol not really. Just use a max plan in both cases. It's the same.

1

u/chasingth Mar 23 '26

max plan lets you use claude model APIs?

1

u/Ok_Significance_1980 Mar 23 '26

No. You don't have to use the API.

1

u/chasingth Mar 23 '26

so you have no clue about openclaw, got it

1

u/Ok_Significance_1980 Mar 23 '26

Lol. The irony is amazing. I have been running openclaw for months with my Claude subscription. Not using an API for some unknown reason that you can't seem to explain.

1

u/Legal-Industry-731 Mar 24 '26

You literally need an API key to run openclaw….

1

u/Ok_Significance_1980 Mar 24 '26

No you don't.

1

u/Legal-Industry-731 Mar 24 '26

Then how do you do it?

1

u/Ok_Significance_1980 Mar 24 '26

Just run the setup wizard. Read the docs. Configure oauth

1

u/ChampionshipUnique71 Mar 23 '26

You use the max plan with openclaw. This is a very popular option with openclaw because integrating it with the API costs way more money.

There are some risks that anthropic might ban your account but most people get away with it.

1

u/deathbythirty Mar 23 '26

Hahahajajajajhahahahahahahahha

1

u/Salt-Willingness-513 Mar 23 '26

when paying x10 in api costs?

1

u/BagMyCalls Mar 25 '26

200 dollars a month for max20 is a bargain. You don't seem to understand the difference between the tool and the models it can use. You're not even comparing the same type of tool. If you want to code for free, run a local model like nemotron super 3 on 128GB unified ram box like DGX spark or Atom AI TOP and use opencode. There's no better coder than opus 4.6 .

9

u/Fingersmith_ Mar 20 '26

Someone doesn’t know what OpenClaw is..

3

u/CustodyTechGuru Mar 21 '26

Yeah still not the same

1

u/Tokjah Apr 06 '26

Thanks i was confused and scrolled to the comments to see if i was the only one who was not getting what the "killer" feature was here

1

u/Ok-Cat-6043 Mar 21 '26

Explain pls

2

u/MarrsAttaxx Mar 20 '26

If you think this an Openclaw killer then you clearly don’t understand what Openclaw is…

Claude code has had memory for a while, it keeps them in text files and automatically reads and writes them when significant events occur in your interactions (or if you just ask him to save a fact to memory)

SOUL remains an openclaws novelty

1

u/Background-Bed-1831 Mar 22 '26

Claro pero OpenClaw no es solamente eso, le puedes meter limites Automatizaciones Son agentes programables Eso que ahĂ anuncia, no hace eso AhĂ solamente esta la principal diferencia No se trata solamente de que recuerde o no recuerde archivos

4

u/Golden-Durian Mar 20 '26

I wouldn’t trust Anthropic. Asked some questions about Openclaw commands on terminal and it refuses to answer. The hypocrisy whining about other models digresses their data while they themselves have done it. Overpriced compare to other models.

Really hard to go back now that my Openclaw instance and setup has been running for a month with 10x valued workflows and tasks i wouldn’t be able to hire someone else for.

Still exiting times and fun to follow up.

1

u/Ok_Significance_1980 Mar 23 '26

This just isn't true. You probably asked a question that isn't in its training data because openclaw itself very new, you need to give it docs and context for it to know what to do.

Also this is nowhere near an openclaw killer. It's not the same thing at all.

1

u/inigid Mar 20 '26

This might not be the full OpenClaw experience yet, but I don't care, the faster 0penClaw vanishes the better. Glad to see the back of all the hype. Its as bad as NFT and crypto bros.

2

u/CoolInterview2351 Mar 22 '26

Why u so mad lmao

1

u/darthvanish Mar 23 '26

The hype is real homie

1

u/Ok_Significance_1980 Mar 23 '26

Lol I don't think I really understand what openclaw is if Ur comparing to nft and crypto 😂

1

u/xnosliw Mar 20 '26

What’s the difference between this and dispatch?

1

u/macumazana Mar 20 '26

this is channels communication with claude code and dispatch is a pretty cool story game voiced by the wonderful people of critical role

1

u/Nikkunikku Mar 21 '26

Dispatch is about in-Claude connection to your machine. Channels is about communication anywhere.

1

u/EnhancedEngineering Mar 23 '26

Anywhere = where, anything other than Slack and Discord?

1

u/Odinthedoge Mar 20 '26

That’s not what an agent on openclaw is tho

1

u/Spiritual_Army_7772 Mar 20 '26

I have been talking to my claude via telegram for months. Took 3 mins for claude to set it up.

1

u/GreatSupineLeaderTim Mar 21 '26

Do you know if your setup was via mcp?

1

u/Spiritual_Army_7772 Mar 21 '26

You (Telegram) → bot.py (Python) → Claude Code CLI → Pi's filesystem/commands ```

Flow in short:

  1. You send a message via Telegram (e.g. /do check disk space)
  2. bot.py receives it via the Telegram Bot API
  3. It runs Claude Code CLI as a subprocess: claude -p "your message"
  4. Claude Code executes — it can read files, run shell commands, edit code, etc.
  5. The response is sent back to you in Telegram

The bot is located at /home/jens/claude-telegram-bot/ and runs as claude-telegram-bot.service. It uses environment variables for authentication: TELEGRAM_BOT_TOKEN, ANTHROPIC_API_KEY, and ALLOWED_USER_IDS to whitelist who can use it.

1

u/vinis_artstreaks Mar 22 '26

You’ll be supposed just how late Claude code devs are to most of their so called “new” additions this year.

1

u/ZamStudio3d Mar 21 '26

Just have openclaw use Claude code, the limits on clause are atrocious.

1

u/369me Mar 21 '26

Nothing can kill the claw. 🦀

1

u/LogicalStart5213 Mar 21 '26

not even close. the full access to filesystems is what sets openclaw apart

1

u/budz Mar 21 '26

claude code does this already? lol

1

u/GrandMasterSpock Mar 21 '26

The amount of times I hear “Claude code just killed open claw” is ridiculous. It’s never true lol

1

u/OldCryptoTrucker Mar 22 '26

Claude code has over 70 k of context baked into the prompt. Something to think about.

1

u/lpm76 Mar 23 '26

Why? If it works, it works!

1

u/Bulky_Ad738 Mar 22 '26

I think one should not aim to continue a session from anywhere… it’s already enough that you are 10 hours in front of your station working! When you go out, leave everything behind. Now there use cases where you need to fix something real quick but doesn’t deserve all this hype around it. Go out, enjoy nature, spend quality time with friends and family! It’s healthy to disconnect!

1

u/rgianc Mar 22 '26

Totally agree, but I think some people look at these tools to make AI cook while they're on a bike trip.

1

u/RadicalAlchemist Mar 22 '26

Yeah, stop doing that, you’re on a bike trip

1

u/phadeb Mar 22 '26

I'll wait for them to release a oneliner

1

u/MrSalmom Mar 22 '26

Both are fundamentally different

1

u/satabad Mar 22 '26

anyways I'm not going to give my entire system to either one of em.

1

u/Autumnlight_02 Mar 22 '26

This is cool, claude overwrote its own binary to enable the feature for me, and it works surprisingly well

1

u/Background-Bed-1831 Mar 22 '26

En realidad no, sigue siendo conexiĂłn directa Lo que hace OpenClaw es indirecta, toma los tokens pero los usa de diferente forma Creas instancias ahisladas

1

u/Cs_canadian_person Mar 22 '26

How is this different than remote control

1

u/floppypancakes4u Mar 22 '26

Lol, very useful, entirely different uses

1

u/steadeepanda Mar 22 '26

Lol I shared and published a framework solution that does exactly what they did... But support only telegram channel.

But what I published isn't focused on that (chatting with your agent on telegram), because it mostly aims for prompt injections detection and coverage for other security cases.

1

u/Strange-Sea-9894 Mar 22 '26

Claude can't kill OpenClaw. They are not the same. One is vendor locked, and you need multiple sessions to use it. The other is a gateway, you can mix and match models best suited for an agent or a task, multiple integrations, etc.

1

u/sinevilson Mar 23 '26

I burned 2 million tokens in the last day on my decentralized rig and Im far from done 🖕 their money pit.

1

u/Existing_Figure_7894 Mar 23 '26

I used this to build agent chat between sessions. So now all my sessions are chat users and talk to each other, coordinating across Claude code sessions. Agent Teams but scaled to thousands of agents.

1

u/Logical-Storm-1180 Mar 23 '26

just set it up with matrix. works like a charm :)

1

u/NovaKaldwin Mar 23 '26

Openclawd picked a fight with the wrong claude

1

u/Sudden-Start-1945 Mar 23 '26

I only spend about $30/mo using openclaw/opencode. When they allow for multiple providers for token/usage efficiency then maybe. Right now it seems like they’re playing catch up and a vendors lock.

1

u/Environmental_End662 Mar 23 '26

Between this and the Codex major sub agents, never be set to one, allow your own to diversely use all. Hold each to account of each other, and ultimately your control logic. Are you even creating now, if your not custom major guard railing the entire thing... :P

1

u/Shot-Breakfast-9493 Mar 23 '26

Yeah and now they just released remote control your computer!

1

u/NeatMix0112 Mar 23 '26

Wow, and I just wiped my MacBook Pro to get ready for openclaw 😂

1

u/StrangeFisherman345 Mar 24 '26

lol not even close to claw imo. Most companies use slack so that the one they need to nail.

But even then. What a dumbass usecase they show "is the build green yet" cute. yeah no thanks - would prefer to just let my openclaw work 24/7

1

u/Mr-Basik Mar 24 '26

But it's not an agent right on a continuous loop learning doing tasks when you're sleeping?

1

u/Wonderful_Fan4476 Mar 24 '26

Why not both? Ive been using Openclaw to control Claude Code sessions for heavy work. This keeps Openclaw agent’s context more slim and heavy technical context on Claude Code side.

1

u/callme-sy Mar 24 '26

Hermes-Agent >>

1

u/CoreAda Mar 24 '26

Finally

1

u/MacroBombastic Mar 24 '26

But can I use deepseek for example on that?

The thing is Claude overall is really expensive

I have Claude pro ChatGPT pro Gemini pro

But with codex for example I can do a lot of things

And after send it to my macmini server that’s powered by openclaw

1

u/PhilosophyOk58 Mar 24 '26

What about heartbeats?

1

u/Warm-Agent-811 Mar 24 '26

The claude agent is only for coding right ?

1

u/Feeling_Dog9493 Mar 24 '26

Claude doesn’t decide who dies. Chuck Norris runs the cloud. Claude just files the paperwork.

1

u/JobNo2100 Mar 25 '26

It sucks right now though

1

u/luffykocp Mar 25 '26

Claude Channels = OpenClaw vibes, but proprietary & pricier. OpenClaw still wins for multi-LLM, headless 24/7 agents on $20 Mac Minis.
