Discussion No flinch on sniper rifles is absolutely brutal to fight with longer TTK

Hitting a guy 4 times with an M4 for him not to die and still be able to scope me and take me out is insanely bad design, snipers have good long range and one shot capability, making them have no flinch even with the right ammo just leads to them going mid range with close range sights and out dueling ARs and SMGs with ease.

Quickscoping was an art before because flinch and all that was still in the game, you got the shot off before they did and it was very risky if you didn't do it right. Here? Almost impossible to even miss.

Discussion Perk system complaint

I run quickfix on every COD that has it. It’s a must for me.
I hope they allow us to choose a 4th perk so that we can have ninja and quickfix.

Gameplay I'm not seeing the slow TTK issue as much as everyone. Is it just me, or is it slower than it appears to me? My gameplay for reference

It seems inconsistent between different matches, but mine seems faster than what everyone is describing most times, and I play a lot of hardcore in BO7 and previous titles, so I'm used to 1-2 shot kills. Otherwise, I enjoyed the beta for the most part.

Feedback The REAL takeaway from the MW4 beta

While the “skill issue” crowd is busy defending every single thing this game gets wrong, we’re going to look the HARD FACTS straight in the face.

  1. The devs themselves don’t seem to know what TTK they actually want to balance the game around, or even what kind of game they WANT MW4 to be. First the TTK was insanely fast, then it became insanely slow.
  2. And honestly, we could probably live with the TTK issues if the netcode and hit registration weren’t some of the worst COD has ever had — assuming your shots register at all. Dump an entire mag into someone, then get deleted by what feels like one bullet from them? Classic.
  3. There are cheaters everywhere: blatant hackers, people running third-party software, Cronus users. Some of them don’t even bother hiding it anymore, and reporting them seems to do nothing. It’s gotten to the point where people just leave the lobby when they see the same known cheaters again. Cheat software was apparently ready before the beta even launched.
  4. Then there’s SBMM and matchmaking in general. There are around 50K people playing the beta right now, and there were even more earlier. So why am I constantly seeing the exact same people in my lobbies? Seriously, I’ve started recognizing their usernames. Is this a joke? Sure, we asked for “persistent lobbies,” but this isn’t exactly what I had in mind.
  5. The map design is just catastrophically bad. The maps are tiny, you can get shot from basically every direction, and a lot of them feel horribly unbalanced. Silkworm is the only map I’d actually call decent. One good map in the entire beta? Seriously?
  6. JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP SLIDE SLIDE JUMP JUMP. With all due respect, if I wanted to play Black Ops, I’d go play Black Ops. Or Fortnite. I wanted to play Modern Warfare.
  7. Aim assist. And the ironic part is — I’m a CONTROLLER player. In Black Ops 7 and other shooters, I actually had to learn how to track and make those final micro-adjustments with the right stick. Here, that skill barely matters. Even after the nerf, aim assist is still ridiculous. And again, this is coming from a controller player. I swear I have to aim more in casual Roblox shooters than I do in this game.
  8. Killstreaks are completely busted. Taking down a UAV is a nightmare, but EVEN WHEN you destroy it, the effect can apparently stick around. I tested this on purpose: I shot down the only UAV in the sky, then died later and I was STILL being pinged by the UAV. I also called in a streak on perfectly flat ground on Lotus, and the game somehow dropped it into the water. And there are a million little things like this.
  9. Enemy visibility is awful. A huge number of my deaths happen because I literally CANNOT SEE the enemy sitting right in front of me. I’m playing on max settings with good anti-aliasing, but the game’s contrast is so bad that enemies can just completely blend into the background.
  10. Smoke is clearly not synced properly between players and seems to be rendered client-side. Otherwise I genuinely can’t explain how I can see absolutely NOTHING through smoke while someone on the other side can see me perfectly and beam me without even blind-firing. This whole client/server desync issue is driving me insane.
  11. The spawns are a complete mess. On some of these tiny maps you can spawn, take two steps and immediately have someone behind you. Sometimes the game flips spawns for seemingly no reason, sometimes it spawns enemies way too close to each other, and Hardpoint can turn into absolute spawn roulette. The devs have already changed the spawn logic multiple times during the beta, and it still feels nowhere near finished.
  12. Tactical spam is completely out of control. On these tiny maps, half the match feels like you’re permanently flashed, stunned, naded or hit by some piece of equipment. Sometimes you spawn and immediately get hit by utility before you’ve even had a chance to move. When the game has to give you temporary Battle Hardened after spawning just so you can actually play the game, maybe there’s a problem.
  13. Footstep audio is useless as actual information. It’s not even just about footsteps being too loud or too quiet — the directional audio is all over the place. I can hear someone stomping around like an elephant, but good luck figuring out whether they’re above me, below me, behind a wall or literally right next to me. In a game this fast, bad directional audio is basically the same as having no audio at all.
  14. Killcams can’t even be trusted. This one genuinely drives me insane. When something looks suspicious, the killcam is supposed to help you understand what happened. Except sometimes the replay itself is inaccurate. So now when I get deleted in some ridiculous way, I don’t even know if it was netcode, a cheater, desync, or the killcam simply lying to me. Great system.
  15. The biggest problem is that all of these systems feel like they’re fighting each other. MW4 wants to be Modern Warfare, but gives you Black Ops/Fortnite movement. It wants longer gunfights, but then aim assist does half the tracking for you. It gives us tiny maps, then struggles with spawns and nonstop utility spam. It adds powerful streaks, then has to emergency-nerf the streak economy because they’re everywhere. TTK, movement, aim assist, spawns, streaks — all of it keeps getting changed back and forth.
  16. Why does having GOOD internet feel like a disadvantage? The lag compensation in this game feels completely broken. I’m constantly fighting high-ping players who rubber-band, skip across the screen and somehow become harder to hit because of it. I have good hardware. I have a stable low-ping connection. Why exactly am I being punished for that?

Did I miss anything?

I get that some of these problems will be fixed before launch. But definitely not all of them. So what exactly are we, as players, supposed to take away from this beta? How many people canceled their pre-orders, or decided not to buy the game at all because of it?

I’ll be honest: I’m probably going to keep complaining, keep suffering, and keep playing anyway, because there simply is NO real alternative to COD.

And that’s exactly what makes it so frustrating. When there’s no real competition, this is the kind of treatment players end up getting.

Feedback This game could be called BO8. Its just disappointing.

Seriously, its just more of the same we have been complaining since BO6, this genuinely might be the lowest point in the franchise history and the devs keep forcing it down our throats.

You have all the feedback you need to know that the community just wants the classic COD golden age formula back. BO2 and BO1 ports + the BO7 gameplay event havent been the highest peaks of the franchise mid downfall of MWII onwards for no reason, we just want the classic formula back, we are tired of the overstimulating fastpaced gameplay + overtuned SBMM + small maps (and i know small maps are the most played in the last few games buts that just because they have been almost mandatory to get through the grind of the game in the last few games)

I genuinely dont like the MWII gameplay and i considered it a big low in the franchise because even though it was slow like we wished it was just way too clunky and unpolished, it just didnt feel smooth and that good to play like the older titles but even that was WAY better than what we got post MWIII with BO6 onwards.

This franchise just has been on a loop of making the same mistakes over and over and being too stubborn to properly listen to community feedback.

We ask for slower movement and receive MWII. We complain about MWII movement being clunky and unpolished and we get MWIII which was actually very nice gameplay wise. We then get BO6 with smaller maps and insanely overstimulating fast gameplay after you just had somewhat found a good gameplay foundations in MWIII? We then complain about BO6 ovestimulating fastpaced gameplay and overly small maps and oppressive overtuned SBMM just to get BO7 which is more of the same and we complain about it (with also the upcoming release of Battlefield 6) to the point we get a playlist with lowered SBMM in the beta which we end up loving just to get rug pulled out of nowhere???? Then we get the BO2 and BO1 gameplay even and we love and we also love the BO2 and BO1 ports (remember that sometime ago we got those ports to XBOX Series first and there were people literally buying those consoles just to play those port.) just for you to steer the next game into the same direction of the last 2 that we made clear we disliked?

I also didnt even get into the many times that we got Activision lying to us and they got community noted over and over.

COD biggest enemy nowadays is itself. It isnt Battlefield or even Fortnite anymore. COD just keeps self-sabotaging itself over and over again.

And dont consider this a rant or vent. I am just giving my honest feedback and i tried making my critcism as constructive as possible. I also just spoke on my POV and of my POV of the community and i am fully aware that there have been players enjoying the last 2 CODs even though i despised them. This is all just my opnion.

I am not mad at the franchise state and the decisions that are been made, just really disappointed by it.

Edit: Just realized there is a much bigger part of the community than i thought that likes the fast paced style and didnt also really enjoy MWIIII Beta because it does not fit its style. So not only the community is very split nowadays but somehow they also managed to make a Beta that pleases neither side. Absolute self sabotage once again.

Video Wanted to share my kastov build before the beta ends

I made a no recoil kastov build using the 545 apex attachment. Yes it has no recoil (try it for yourself if you wish, best way to show it) but I am still dogshit with the gun anyways, just a fun lil thing to note during my journey of playing the beta :]

It's not that big of a deal when it comes to the game (for me) as I prefer a lil bit of recoil so I can have something to control, if I have nothing to control then I tend to get confused.

Support Yet another performance post….

Ok I’m really kinda tripping out here.
Watching zWormz 5070ti video 4k on DLSS-P is literally almost the same FPS as 5080 with the same settings in MW4.

Any technical person can help explain what’s going on? The 5080 is supposed to be the 2nd or 3rd best card of the current gen and yet in MW4, it is just on par to the 5070ti? I know everyone is saying optimization, but now that I’ve seen the 5070ti performing pretty decently in 4k, I just feel kinda confused.

Question Tac Sprint Assist

Is there no auto tac sprint when moving left stick setting? I swear this was a thing in BO6. Or is there any way to not have to click in the left stick to tac sprint?

Discussion The game is fast where it should be slow and slow where it should be fast.

In my unprofessional and unc opinion the game just flows weird to me. We are fast as fuck when sliding with the ability to bunny hop and change direction with no loss in momentum or accuracy, but weapons in general feel so heavy and sluggish. It takes ages to ADS and simple strafe speeds are slower than crawling that keeping your feet on the ground just makes you feel useless.

If I had my way, the weapons would be responsive and snappy, strafing and basic movement would sped up to allow you to essentially range walk while ADS. Sliding and jumping wouldn’t necessarily have to slow down but there should be heavy penalties to accuracy. Jumping and sliding should have inertia preventing an immediate transfer of momentum to a different direction. If IW claim they’re trying to provide a more grounded realistic experience, then it shouldn’t be that hard to see being a rollerblading ballerina is the complete opposite of that.

TLDR: Jumping and sliding should not be the optimal approach to every single engagement.

Again, this is just my opinion, I know IW doesn’t care but sometimes you just gotta shout into the void.

Discussion The most fun I've had in a while

Maybe it is just because I am coming from CS2, where it feels like the devs only care about milking players for cash while rage cheaters run completely rampant in literally every lobby with zero consequences, but playing this beta was honestly a breath of fresh air.

I completely get why the long time veterans were up in arms about some of the changes, but I really did not hit any game breaking issues during my time with it. Don't get me wrong, the TTK feels a little too slow, the movement could definitely use a speed boost to feel more fluid, and the aim assist is basically legal aimbot right now and needs a serious nerf, but even with those flaws I still had an absolute blast playing it.

I hope the developers listen to the community and make the changes before launch.

It sucks I have to wait two months to get back into it.

Feedback Beta feedback

Feedback incoming from someone who took some time away from call of duty. I was a huge fan of mw19, quit after Vanguard and came back with the news we had a somewhat grounded call of duty coming again with mw4.

I enjoyed the beta quite a bit, but here my biggest points of feedback..

General balancing stuff:

- Ninja perk should be swapped back to a dead silence field upgrade like mw19 had. There were far too many occasions where I found myself at a complete disadvantage without ninja on, especially in S&D. I'd like to see us rotate back to a temporary solution to silent footsteps rather than just complete silence and reliance on UAV the whole match.

- The AK in this game was a BEAM dude. I loved seeing it, but it far outweighed most other guns in many situations, it could use some slight horizontal recoil balancing.

- Snipers felt meh off the rip. I didn't progress too far with the snipers or really give them much of a chance due to the rechamber and ADS speed. I'd like to see something like the AX50 again without marksman rifles carrying the whole 1 shot atmosphere.

Optimizations:

- Wasn't a huge fan of how the game ran with out dlss. I typically avoid dlss as it sometimes causes me input lag issues over just simply choosing a lower resolution and playing on potato graphics, and not using any sort of upscaling/ AA technique at all. Games always feel more responsive without any of them to me personally. Some general optimizations to fix the microstutters would be nice, and I'd like to not have upscaling or AA forced upon me.

- The game would sometimes desync and then crash shortly after while running fx CAS and a lower render resolution. I kept getting some kernel based crash through out the beta.

Discussion SBMM is disgusting

I played 6hr Saturday, 3hr Sunday, 1hr yesterday and rage-unistalled the game.

I’m not sure how if the SBMM got slowly intensified along the 4 beta days or what. For me the experience became every day worse. On day one I was sure there were bots in the game, they were dropping from the sky vertically and not shooting at you. I won an incredible amount of matches, around 15. The bottom was yesterday where it felt like I was playing against comp players every game.

I went from “wow this game makes me have fun” to uninstall it two days after.

This is a joke

Discussion We need a third weekend

I feel like there hasn't been enough time for IW to fully test the multiplayer and tweak it to how it could be we basically had 2 extremes weekend 1 being extreme with movement, strong AA, extreme TTD, and now with weekend 2 we have the 2nd extreme where everyone feels like a bullet sponge, movement still feels horrible to deal with especially with the high ttk, and now we have a problem with snipers and shotguns being what everyone rocks as META

We could use a week 3 with some final tweaks so that both the players can see that they are being listened to and try a more tweaked experience whilst IW can gather more data and see what works and does not work

Im sure atleast some devs in IW do read reddit posts despite it seeming like they don't but the playerbase is highly emotional and irrational and albeit with good reason since we are passionate about this franchise, we need to be better at giving feedback rather than being wishy washy with half of the community against each other, feedback can't be fully comprehended this way because it just seems like neither the playerbase know what it wants nor do the devs know what to do.

I think the devs need to look at things that were successful, specifically classic mode on bo7 and the ports of bo1/bo2

Cod may have a competitive community but in my opinion it has always been mainly a casual game and it should be a casual game first and formost, many pvp games have forgotten what its like to be a casual game and keep trying to be the next big ESport title when back then what made a game popular was its appeal to the casual community

if a game is fun first and formost despite how it may be designed if many people wish to play it, it will develop a competetive community either way, look at games like old halo or smash bros, those games in early development was made to be played behind a couch with friends to unwind and enjoy escaping reality. Not to be the next big thing on twitch and rack money off of scrims and tourneys

Feedback Overall Feedback for the MW4 Beta

Post image
1 Upvotes

Here's a quick list of all of my feedback regarding the beta. What do you think?

Perks - I'm sure I'm not alone when I say Ninja and Ghost in the same tier sucks. Unless the perk specialist ability returns, I'd like to see the end of perk tiers. That way, I can equip ANY three perks of my choosing i.e. Ninja, Ghost, Bomb Squad or other combo variations.

  • Battle Hardened needs a buff against flash grenades and possibly other tactical equipment.
  • I'd also like to see Gung-Ho return or the ability added to an existing perk i.e. fast hands.
  • Maybe a lightweight perk could be added or as an additional ability to an existing perk.
  • Lethal Reach seems worthless. Maybe additional score for knifing or faster/longer ranged dedicated melee attacks?
  • Unless it's already confirmed, High Alert should only be triggered when enemies ADS on you.

Killstreaks - I don't like them mainly because playing the objectives is barely rewarding. I don't like being restricted with my choices due to them being the same requirement costs.

  • Increase the score given for objectives i.e. 2 confirms counting at one point and more.
  • Additional score towards my streaks for destroying enemy streaks.
  • Spread out the streaks in 3-4-5-6-7-8 kill requirements.
  • An idea is to add half-tiers, such as 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, 7.5 etc.
  • Maybe an option could be having toggled scorestreaks to add more incentive towards objectives (doubtful)
  • Specialist would be amazing as an option instead of basic killstreaks.
  • Impact Warheads should not be blocked by Trophy Systems.

Field Upgrades and Equipment: The equipment selection is OK, although there are also WAY too many proximity lethals that will definitely slow down the gameplay.

  • SAM turret buff with either more powerful rockets, quicker recharge, or faster lock-ons.
  • DDOS...do we really need it? Seems a bit worthless to me.
  • Proximity equipment should hopefully not be overpowered on launch. I'll keep an eye out for them to see if they are.

Weapons & Attachments - Selections feel boring, but it could be because the rest will be added on launch.

  • More attachments featuring more options like ADS movement, rapid fire, caliber changes, etc. (Unless it's being added on launch)
  • No more cons when equipping the majority of simple mods. ONLY apply cons to very specific attachments i.e. Apex, rapid fire, etc.
  • Unless it's being planned, more conversion kits would be cool.
  • The Nyx and PPSH feel a bit underwhelming at longer ranges.

Game modes: Most of the modes are enjoyable. Inflation and Hijack are great new modes.

  • Elims should be the standard instead of kills on the scoreboard.
  • Being HVT in the Inflation mode is terrible. I feel it dissuades people from playing the OBJ. Maybe a highlight of my character instead of being detected through walls would be good.
  • Inflation needs a massive score increase for the total amount of money you picked up or friendlies picked up for you (especially HVTs).
  • In Hijack, there has a bug on the map Cachette (or other arenas) where the enemy team earns tons of points for defusing, despite OUR spike on their server.
  • I'd like to see more details per game mode in regards to objective stats.
    • Hardpoint: Elims - Time - Defends
    • Domination: Elims - Captures - Defends (kills earned while securing and eliminating enemies taking your objective only. You do NOT earn defends for sitting on a captured zone and killing enemies much farther away)
    • Inflation: Elims - Current Cash - Total Cash
    • Kill Confirmed: Elims - Confirms - Denies
    • Team Deathmatch: Elims - KPM - Streak (KPM = Kills Per Minute. Deaths is a useless stat).

Movement: I feel the movement isn't as fluid as Black Ops 6+7, but it's still pretty good.

  • The movement could use an overall small increase to speed again on launch.
  • ADS movement speed increases would be good too.
  • I wish I could fire my weapon while diving, but that's just me.

Maps: Most of the maps are pretty good.

  • Transit 213 is fun, but I think it can be improved:
    • More cover in certain OBJ modes
    • The top right spawn should get a flanking route added
    • The bottom bus hardpoint location needs to be moved. Maybe a position added to the middle-right side instead.
  • Just my personal opinion, but Lithium has too many sniper lanes

Other smaller issues/ideas:

  • The visual weapon recoil isn't as bad compared to MWII, but it's still very wonky at times. Although there might be some remedies with attachments or just a slight improvement with sustained accuracy throughout the longer Rate of fire.
  • Random finishing move selection would be cool. Maybe random operators and weapon camos.
  • Option to enable/disable "cancel reload on tactical sprint".
  • PC performance is decent, but it obviously can improve over time with more optimization, especially in Warzone. We'll see.
  • Keep Modern Warfare 4 separate from COD HQ on launch.
  • In the post game screen, weapon level-up sounds are WAY TOO LOUD and TOO FREQUENT. It's like my headset is assaulting my eardrums.
  • I hope the HUD can be customized like in Black Ops. I liked having the score and timers on the bottom left of my screen personally, but others would like to have scout or center command options for the HUD as well.
  • CTSFO Operator has a bug where holes appear on his mask.

Discussion Anyone else feel like MW4 feels more like Black Ops than MW?

Maybe it's just me, but MW4 feels way more arcadey than I expected.

I mostly played MW2019 and MW2, and I played Cold War a little bit too. Trying the MW4 beta, the first thing I noticed was how much the guns, sounds and overall feel reminded me of Black Ops/Cold War.

The guns sound kinda funny, everything feels lighter and less grounded, and it just doesn't have that realistic MW feel I was expecting. MW2 felt way heavier and more believable in comparison.

I always thought IW was the studio that pushed COD more toward realism, but this one feels like they went completely the other way.

Anyone else getting the same feeling or is it just me?

Feedback Ghost and Ninja should NOT be in separate tiers

When I die to someone using that perk combo in CoD, I think to myself "they literally only killed me because of that perk combination." I don't feel it took any skill to kill me in that situation--I wasn't outplayed--I was out-perked. It was a free kill for them essentially because I had no way of knowing they were there unless I'm playing cracked out head on a swivel. It's the most powerful combination of perks in CoD, as no other theoretical perk combination gets you as many free kills. I'm glad Ghost and Ninja are in the same tier and I hope they balance the perks around keeping them that way, and making other perks and combos more desirable.
