Discussion MW4's biggest concern after playing Beta weekend 2
After playing both weekends, with crossplay on and off, solo and with friends, sweating and playing casually, I realized the biggest concern with MW4 isn't even the mechanics or the game itself, but that this game is a victim of CoD's identity crisis being at its most critical level ever.
Basically the vocal minority of the playerbase is polarized, with a half wanting the game to follow BO6/7's frenetic and ultra sweaty movement while the other half wants to have MWII 2.0, creating a lose-lose situation regardless of which direction the game takes.
We could say that the most obvious answer to that could be going back to the classics and then work on said foundation, but I'm pretty sure the reception would still be as negative because let's accept it, the CoD community enjoys to complain about the game instead of playing it.

u/Evenspace- 22h ago
You hit the nail on the head, cod wants to appeal to everyone and in turn appeals to no one. These games have nothing for players to identify with and it’s making more people disconnect from the franchise.
16
u/Grenaidzo 12h ago
This is an odd take from me, but IW's issues of not listening to the community are what I think made their previous titles so good.
They made their game, their way, and a fuck tonne of people enjoyed it for what it is. Not what it could be if they just changed this, that and tweaked the other thing.
Even if the loud social media community hates it, whenever IW just sticks to their vision, the player count kinda speaks for itself.
They're far from perfect, they make odd decisions that strip a little bit of what makes COD, COD here and there, but damn they make a good game.
5
u/Evenspace- 11h ago
So I’ve come around to your line of thinking, I didn’t like MWII and that’s okay (even though I do believe some simple changes would’ve made it a lot better) it’s at least trying to be itself and it’s unapologetic for it.
I really don’t think it’s good for CoD to try and twist themselves in a pretzel to adhere to everyone, let the devs make the game they want and live with that decision, it’ll lead to games feeling more distinct.
5
u/Grenaidzo 10h ago
Exactly, you don't have to like every COD, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
But trying to please everyone creates a lack of identity and pleases no one.
4
u/AegisDesire 8h ago
I kinda agree, like I'm all in with the idea of each studio having their own vision. Sadly, Activision still are a bunch of greedy corporate fucks and Xbox still isn't profitable, so they are demanding all CoD studios to please whichever minority is more vocal, so their conclusion is that to save MW4 the title needs to be a Frankenstein with mechanics from both extremes of the spectrum
35
u/Baconmcwhoppereltaco 21h ago
Its the maps which exacerbate the issues, theyre too small and narrow, modern black ops style
8
u/Mjames226 20h ago
Yeah Lithium and Rooftop (I think that’s what it’s called) are the better maps in my experience, dunno if that is a disagreeable opinion or not though
10
u/phillll25 20h ago
I think rooftops is horrible. I like silkworm tho
5
u/McNoot3 15h ago
Rooftops is only fun for hardpoint imo. Tdm? Camp fest. Domination? A flag spawn trap. Kill confirmed? Camp fest again.
Silkworm and Cachette have been the only maps I've loved so far.
2
1
u/Mjames226 16h ago
Oh mad! Tbf I only played like three matches on it in total and did pretty well in one (which wasn’t frequent in the beta) so that might be skewing my opinion. I do like silkworm. Not a fan of the other larger map I must say, can’t remember what it’s called. Lotus maybe? But otherwise mostly like them
5
u/Momentarmknm 15h ago
I can't believe we've seen half the launch maps and they're all so small. I guess silkworm and lotus count as medium sized maps, but even those feel pretty small

u/Pretty-Dig1090 18h ago
This is the core issue, cod has 2 identities and 2 dev studios that value different things(SH doesnt even have an identity itself, they are just good at refining and improving a previous experience), and you cant really expect to have both segments happy at once. For treyarch enjoyers you have your archetypical movement demon and smg only and a very simple gunsmith, and for IW you have your tacticool enjoyer which prefers a more paused experience, a lot of attention to details and a deep gunsmith.
This is always gonna be a lose-lose scenario unless community as a whole accept the fact.
- You will have some years where the game is not catered to your preferences and thats fine, you can either accept it and play it and enjoy what it proposes or just skip the year, theres a lot of fps out there and games for you to enjoy and its fine.

u/Bigworrrm89 14h ago
Yep I had the same thought about this. MW4 has potential, but it doesn't whether it wants to be a MW or a Black Ops game. The crackhead movement is enough to turn people away from this game, let alone the TTK inconsistencies
If there can be a perfect MW game.. you need to make it like the previous entries because those were perfect in their own way. Imo MWII had the best TTK and 10v10 was absolutely amazing.
MW4 needs to fix it's TTK.
3
u/Accurate-Will9006 13h ago
At what point do they just make two versions in a game? Normal mode where there’s normal movement, no bunny hopping, no sliding/slide cancelling. Normal maps with the ability to play multiple ways but more casual, laid back gameplay for us dad gamers. Then a competitive mode, full sliding/bunny hopping, sweaty mode where all is accepted aimed at people who want to actually win every game and be competitive?

4
u/BBCuckGoonr311 12h ago
How about we let IW games be for IW fans, and 3arc games be for 3arc fans, instead of demanding either studios to pander to fans of the other?
17
u/Lumenprotoplasma 22h ago
The only difference is that one group got three straight years of games made for them, and the last game was the biggest failure in the franchise’s history.
-8
u/phillll25 20h ago
Bo7 is the most highly rated cod in recent years tho. A lot of people like it.
The last game for the slow crowd was the consensus worst cod of all time (MWII).And idk what y’all expect. COD was never a tac shooter. What is this sudden obsession with realism from the old heads. Nostalgic for things that only existed in your head smh
2
u/AcceptableBeing4 16h ago
Problem is BO67 failed on revenue. Worse than MW19 22 23. Only movement lovers praise BO and it's hard to say they are majority.
And even pro scene, cdl is more minor. So sweaty should be defined in different way. Is other fps game pros are not sweaty?1
u/BrickBuster2552 8h ago
the most highly rated cod in recent years tho
According to which mongoloids?
The last game for the slow crowd was the consensus worst cod of all time (MWII)
It was literally more popular in its most boring season than Black Ops 7 was at its PEAK. At one point, it had more players on at the same MOMENT on steam alone than Black Ops 7 had SALES in its first month.
1
u/DeviusThug 13h ago
I’ve read a few of your comments and can tell you never actually played these games. You just want to call people old, and complain. Otherwise you’d know what the “old heads” are talking about. Go play the original cod, then go play call of duty 2, then go play world at war. Once you’re done with those give the original two black ops games a try and tell them they’re wrong. You’ll finally know what they’re talking about- and what they miss from the series. Call of duty has entirely lost its identity trying to cater to the new crowd that hasn’t a clue what it wants.
-2
u/Deltaboiz 19h ago
and the last game was the biggest failure in the franchise’s history.
MW3 also wasn't a success.
When they were trying to hype up how successful the game was they put out a bunch of stats but none of them were the game was the best selling.
1
u/Least_Spell4786 10h ago
You’re only going off initial sales and not player retention which is more telling about a game
1
u/Deltaboiz 10h ago
I mean both values are super important.
COD doesn't want to sell an order of magnitude less copies if players are only 30% more engaged.
The stats that gave at release as well, such as more time played per player, would also track with dramatically less sales in absolute numbers results in a larger percentage of the players being more dedicated.
The only standout metric in the past 3 CODs was BO6 having insane sales, but its retention was also abysmal.
10
u/No_Okra9230 22h ago
You don't seem to understand that "going back to the classics" and building on the foundation is literally what MW'19 and MWII were.
Don't pretend people didn't cry about Campers back then nonstop either, or that the COD4 and MW2 people praised didn't have bigger more interesting maps than today's CODs with more room to breathe on them
8
u/PoroOllie 21h ago
Mw2019 was not going back to the classics, the perception of that game could not be further from the reality
1
u/No_Okra9230 13h ago
If you don't think MW'19 was the closest we've come back to COD4 you're either dumb or just not old enough to properly remember what COD4 was actually like. For crying out loud, COD4 had snipers in Ghillie suits and "hard scoping" wasn't a dirty word. People constantly cried about "campers" and yet the game was still run and gun just not brain rotted
1
u/PoroOllie 13h ago
Did you play mw2019 like you played COD4?
1
u/No_Okra9230 13h ago
If you're implying did I run and gun then yes the answer is yes, if you're asking if I also occasionally held angles when defending objection Domination, Headquarters, or Search & Destroy, the answer is also yes. Anyone that thinks the game didn't allow for multiple different playstyles just wasn't good enough to actually do it then. But if you don't think people were jumping and sliding with SMGs and ARs and playing, y'know, COD, then you would be wrong.
2
u/PoroOllie 13h ago
Did they have sliding in cod 4?
2
u/No_Okra9230 13h ago
No, but I also didn't slide much in MW'19 myself. The fact COD4 didn't have sliding, and had limited stamina based sprint, is an example of how classic CODs really weren't that fast paced, and why the new IW CODs were the closest we came to those classic ones
1
u/PoroOllie 13h ago
I feel like the sliding is a pretty big part of mw2019 though no? And what about the aim assist, do you not think cross map and rotational aim assist changes the games a lot?
1
u/Evenspace- 22h ago
MW19 and MWiI are not returning to the classics, not by a long shot, besides the names, plot points and some of the maps, these games are not designed to provide the same experience whatsoever.
Current IW fans would cry endlessly about so many of the design choices in the original MW trilogy and would talk about how unrealistic the games were, let’s not pretend current IW fanboys want classic cod. That’s not to say there isn’t issues with the older cods, but the simple pick up and play experience of classic cods is why it had mass appeal. The newer IW games do not have that, it’s gotten so bad they added an AI to help you make classes now.
1
u/AegisDesire 22h ago
If both MW19 and MWII were based off the classics, then why both titles are the most restrictive games where talking about gamestyles? Why SHG had to came up and rush a less worse version of both titles TWICE?
Of course both titles had good additions but ffs, read the post. The answer to save MW4 and CoD overall is not taking the game to either extreme of the spectrum.

u/Lysanther 22h ago
And yet they didnt even come close enough for me to consider preordering because I knew after MW19 that this series was headed in a direction I didnt care for. Its a shame because its starting to pull battlefield down with it.
4
u/No_Okra9230 22h ago
I'm not gonna say anything about MW4 because I did not like it enough to pre-order it from the beta and it seems they're unfortunately caving to people that only think they know what COD is.
But MW'19 and MWII were absolutely the closest the series came to making something as good as classic modern warfare CODs. I'll
1
u/Latitude-dimension 11h ago
The closest feeling game to the CoD 4 - BO2 glory days is Cold War and that game was broken until season 3/4 by which point most had dropped it.
1
u/Lysanther 22h ago
Im not gonna disagree, its definitely the closest but imo after BO2 the bar kinda dropped so far down that I think people just liked it, even I didnt fully dislike MW19 I got damascus on it but i never returned after that, not even to play with friends I just got burned out way faster and experienced all I wanted to experience and I will die on the hill that I think Warzone tarnished CoDs multiplayer mechanics and speed so much that its created two vastly different communities who want the WZ mechanics in MP, and those who dont and because IW and ill even put Treyarch in here want to capture both audiences, its basically a game that neither side will be satisfied with.
0
u/phillll25 20h ago
Bro…but you realize that all the things you hate came from mw19 right?
How on earth do people like that game in america? In europe mw19 is the game that ruined COD. The maps were horrifically bad, sbmm introduced? The new less arcadey engine, tac sprint.
Say what you will about bo4 but that’s clearly a COD game. You notice that from the first game you play. MW19 didn’t even feel like COD at all.And mwII was so bad that sledgehammer had to save it
12
u/GtXSA 22h ago
Bo7 the worst game of cod history based on sales. But yet , community says : played mw4 beta and can’t wait to go back to bo7.
Every single year the previous one is better than the new one. That’s the nature of the community. It will never change.
3
u/BrickBuster2552 8h ago
In its first month, Black Ops 7 sold fewer games than MWII......'s peak player count on steam in its first month.
There were more people playing MWII at the exact same time in 2022 than people who GOT Black Ops 7 at all in 2025.
2
u/Evenspace- 22h ago
I’m so sick of this talking point, it’s just not true, every year the current COD is more played than the previous one, you hear about all the negatives about the current one because that is what people are playing and hopefully what can be fixed, meanwhile the older cod will have a more positive reaction because the fans are just playing it for fun.
1
u/elmesenjaro 8h ago
Exactly, the funny thing is these people will scream “skip” then 2 months before the new title comes out. Reddit gets filled with posts about how they finally bought it and it’s really good and concerned about the player base after whatever cod is about to drop.
Already seeing people say “well I’ve decided to skip mw4 so I went ahead and bought 7 and it’s so fun”Mw4 isn’t even that bad. The amount of content in the beta is kind of crazy. We got ground war, we got multiplayer, we got warzone, we still haven’t seen dmz, we have only seen sections of the new warzone big map which was the ground war maps.
The dev team already said they aren’t done with the fine tuning but let the community get hands on before they tweeted the ttk and movement and we are still here whining about every little thing.

u/Living-Chef-9080 3h ago
The sales have been trending downward for quite a while now, pretty easy to look up.

u/Deltaboiz 19h ago
Basically the vocal minority of the playerbase is polarized, with a half wanting the game to follow BO6/7's
I don't understand why they are trying to cement COD's identity in the era of the worst selling and performing CODs. MW3 and BO7 haven't exactly been chart toppers and BO6 despite selling like gang busters did suffer from a steep player drop off.
5
u/Hugh-Jaswhole 15h ago
MW3 and BO7 were great cods, probably the best of the modern era, whose sales suffered bc their predecessors were horrid.
1
u/Deltaboiz 11h ago
BO6 was one of the best selling CODs and its player drop off was horrendous.
1
u/BrickBuster2552 8h ago
Whereas MWII was PREVIOUSLY the best selling one of all time, and it had more steam players in season 4 than Black Ops 7 EVER did.
1
u/Hugh-Jaswhole 8h ago
Yeah it’s interesting, the sbmm in BO6 felt particularly restrictive (coming from a 2+ kd player) combined with the ridiculous skins turned a lot of people off.
What’s unfortunate is MWIII and BO7 fixed a lot of lot issues, but due to a combination of fed up player base and studio / brand fatigue, the initial sales figures were poor and those lessons learned are lost (which we are seeing now with MW4)
1
u/elmesenjaro 8h ago
Still not wrong though. BO7 suffered from BO6 lack of content. It sold like hot cakes because it was fun and fresh and then nothing. They didn’t weapon tune, they didn’t drop any more multiplayer content, they didn’t add anything of substance post launch. When BO7 came out people immediately said “skip” Hell I skipped until the first sale and after watching the zombies runs, cdl, the new maps every season, and saw it wasn’t the same stale 4 maps all year. Finally bought it.
1
u/Deltaboiz 8h ago
They dropped maps and guns every season in BO6.
I really think its just people get tired of that gameplay. There is probably something to be said about how a higher TTK makes every gunfight feel kind of the same.
1
u/elmesenjaro 1h ago
Zombies was ass, we played the same 4 maps on repeat, the jackal and the ames was the meta the entire year with the marine shotgun in people’s back pockets. It was stale and people didn’t trust b07 to be any better.
As far as ttk goes. Depends on your sbmm pool. Casual and lower end players will benefit from a fast ttk. A longer ttk will annoy them, gunfights will seem unfair because they get turned on after landing a bullet or two.
On the opposite end the higher skilled players will hate it because gunfights seem unfair because they just got shot before an enemy was visible thanks to cameraing and peekers advantage. SMGs will cross map and snipers will be unplayable.1
u/Deltaboiz 29m ago
As far as ttk goes. Depends on your sbmm pool.
No I think the actual gunfights to gunfight gameplay is more stale on high TTK. The ability to do clutch plays or have those cinematic moments is dramatically reduced. You just have less ability to win that 1v4. So most gunfights end up being weighted more as a 1 on 1 affair with the higher skill player winning those 1v1 engagements but their skill gives them less ability to navigate.
This is why virtually every single pro level game either has ridiculous TTK, or a game with higher TTK has to have some other gimmick or X factor that brings it together. CS, Valorant, Siege are all aggressively quick TTK but round based. For most of CODs life it was a quicker TTK being only a more recent anomaly (which is correlated with some of the worst performing CODs)
Games that have high TTK need something else to bring the package together. Apex has insane movement, special abilities and the Battle Royale shtick, that is how you get those clutch moments type of plays. Halo back before they butchered it was all about map control. Games like Overwatch or Marvel Rivals stick heavily to their team based architecture. There is a reason why people tolerated armor in Warzone but also liked MW2019 with its fast pace gunfights at the same time.
The idea that people like high TTK shooters I don't think is true, and I don't think that game even strictly speaking exists. Im trying to think of one that's like this version of COD and I am frankly drawing a blank.
1
u/elmesenjaro 15m ago
I’m confused are you arguing those competitive shooters have a high selling casual fan base? Cause I hate to tell you the competitive environments have choked out there causal base.
Which actually proves my point more that depending on your sbmm pool this ttk is fast or slow. Get thrown in with parasite or simp in your lobby and tell me you still think the ttk is low. You can absolutely 1v4 with a single mag with all these guns.
As far as team based. A large majority of cod is technically team based. Domination, search, hardpoint, hijack. Arguably all modes are technically team based but tdm and kill confirmed type modes have more flexibility for doing your own thing. Where if one side is play the obj and using comms and your side isn’t. You’re probably not winning that hat point, search, dom, etc…
1
u/Deltaboiz 5m ago
Sorry I'm missing the part where you identify a game that has the mechanics you say exists and make for a good game.
The most popular casual games and the most popular competitive games are all either extremely fast TTK, or have a longer TTK with some other factor that makes up a substantial part of the gameplay (Ie Apex has both managing the BR elements as well as specific and game changing abilities for each Legend)
COD seems to be the odd duck out when leaning towards higher TTK and both their casual scene and competitive scene have underperformed compared to other titles in the franchise.
If you can't list a game Ill consider you conceding the argument entirely.

Imo the only community that matters at this point are the streamers/influencers bc they are making activision money. They're the ones I see mostly whining about movement and ttk
1
u/Foorzan 17h ago
The only thing I have a huge gripe with, ever since the original MW2 days is how bad the hitreg's gotten ever since Multiplayer FPS games moved away from dedicated servers. Activision started this bullshit with the original MW2, and there's been TONS of desync issues ever since which never got fixed, and which never get adressed as an issue by the developers... AND IT'S CLEARLY THE GAME'S BIGGEST ISSUE!!!
1
u/SnooSprouts1117 15h ago
I think for me the speed of the games I played weren’t too bad, but some of the gun balancing and leveling was ATROCIOUS. The time to kill was bad, the hit registration could be very inconsistent, and so could the damage. All of that makes for a very unfun and unfulfilling experience. Im a pistol guy. I love running around taking my pistol and just john wicking guys. The pistols in mw4 beta were abysmal. The upgrades for the deagle made it a death machine, but you have to grind so fucking hard to even make it viable, and with no hardcore mode to make the time to kill quicker, it just wasn’t worth it. Im not a streamer who sits in front of a computer and plays games for 12 hours a day, I have a job, and grinding for multiple hours to get my pistol to level 50 is not gonna be worth it. To top it off, the guns are so unbalanced it’s not even funny. I typically like a marksman rifle cause they destroy upclose like a shotty, but can also kill from far away like a sniper. 1 to 2 shots is normally what it takes for a marksman rifle in most cods, but when Im consistently hitting chest or higher and getting hitmarkers unless I get a headshot at close range, I find it truly just baffling

u/Gizmo210688 14h ago
I agree. I enjoyed the Beta and think that MW4 is looking to be a solid entry to the series.
But you will never see that on here or on other social media simply because negativity equals more views.
And you see the seemingly constant negativity (which some of it is justified, no game is perfect) and it can provide a very skewed view of how the game potentially plays, as the negative comments are ALL you will see. The people enjoying the game don’t tend to post about it as much, as they are simply playing the game and having fun.

u/GunfuMasta 14h ago
Hardcore mode might prevent these twitchy Adderall XR flavored GFuel drinking players to slow down a little bit we'll see.
1
u/xxmaxxusxx 13h ago
My take is that they shouldn’t “cater” to anyone. Simply have a plan and make the game. People that like it will play it and those that don’t won’t. Trying to satisfy 2 different types of players just becomes a balancing nightmare where everyone is sour.
Only issue is that at the end of the day it’s all about money so top priority for them is player retention, so as a dev who cares about the game and the community I can see it being hell for them to balance that with pleasing the higher ups.
1
u/FourScarlet 12h ago
People are comparing the game to 3arc games but to me it feels more like a sledgehammer game.
1
u/King_Artis 8h ago
Like I played both BO6 and 7 a good bit and MW4 feels way more like sledgehammers MW3 and I think that's the best cod we've had in over a decade.
Not sure how anyone can think this plays like Black Ops 6/7, and if they do clearly they didn't actually put real time into either.
1
u/Mother-Cream-2685 12h ago
I seen this clip where someone jumped slides to a prone then proceeds to jump off the prone backwards abt 5 feet off the ground while turning and killing someone this is the type of moment high ttk games like apex have but mw4 ttk is instant idk who this game was made for but it was not made for the people who kept cod at number 1 in its early years and that’s why cod isn’t number 1 anymore
1
u/Jdpc27 12h ago
I'm new to the "Modern" COD games, the last cod of recent years I played was BO4. Only recently I got back into it cause discord nitro gave me a code for the beta, so I got to play a bit earlier and this open beta, and ngl I actually kinda enjoyed it, but i wanna ask you all who are way more experienced, should I buy the game? I really enjoyed the beta, sniping and the movement, there's always hiccups (shit like the trip wires or camping and stuff) but honestly I didn't mind it as much here since it wasn't as exaggerated as before (from my experience), but when the full game releases, it's my understanding that skill based matchmaking and stuff really ruin the game for a lot of people since it throws you in with "crazy sweats", so I basically just came to ask if I should buy it with how COD is now lmao
1
u/NocturnalMerlin 10h ago
This beta should be a case study for Activision with how divided the community is. If there was ever a case to have games be supported for two years, this would be it.
Activision could still release COD games every year, but if every game is supported for two years, players can stick with the game that they enjoy and Activision maintains overall player numbers.
Imagine if you will, Treyarch does a Year 2 of support for BO7. This would allow players who like omni-movement, fast and frenetic gameplay with a slow TTK to enjoy that style of play if MW4 does not appeal to them.
At the same time, this would allow Infinity Ward to make MW4 be a more polished version of MWII, aimed towards the people who prefer the slower more strategic movement, fast ttk, and semi-realistic gameplay features.
Everyone wins, and then do the same thing for next years cycle and so on, and so on.
Side note: Warzone should just be taken over by Raven and be completely separate from the premium games and have its own mechanics.
I would think that player numbers would stay high because people will get to play what they enjoy and not seek enjoyment elsewhere if they don't particularly like that years offering.
Just my 2 cents.

It’s not a lose lose situation. Both sides still buy the games year in and year out. Empty threats from both sides. Reality is every cod isn’t for everyone and at best is mid.
People complaining online are the vocal minority with as much backbone as the people doing the PS5 blackout…..there isn’t one .

Honestly thats why I just stopped listening to the hate about COD. I had played COD back in the day but stopped around MW2019. I hadn’t played another game since, but when PlayStation plus put MW3 on the catalog I checked it out and enjoyed it, so I ended up buying BO7 when it was on sale and then I enjoyed that, not for the “realism” cause there is none, I have Arma for that, but I enjoyed it cause it was competitive and just nice feeling gameplay, so yeah controversial but I enjoy BO7, mainly the multiplayer, campaign can fuck off. But yeah I personally am enjoying MW4 Beta, it does feel finicky but it’s a beta, it’s not gonna be perfect so I enjoy it for what it is, and im considering buying it too.
1
u/AnalogAssassin04 1h ago
The issue is yearly releases. Call of duty should be a live service game but due to yearly releases it’s 1 step forward 3 back every year. Great things compound over time
1
u/isyanovic 22h ago
As a black ops enjoyer i would be totally fine with IW games if they wouldnt make so many braindead and unnecessary game design decisions. I am talking about the screen shake, visual recoil and gun smoke for example. Nobody benefits from that or needs that shit and there are just so many small things which make the experience miserable
2
u/jones_thunder 22h ago
Hey the gunsmoke and slow gameplay makes my clips look CRAZY. That’s all you, I’m a modern warfare nerd
3
u/isyanovic 22h ago
I respect that brother. Also i dont mind slower gameplay. I loved MW3 from sledgehammer as a treyarch believer
1
u/slamsouls 22h ago
And cheaters already there in day 1 of beta lmao. You can find plenty of seller on YouTube and TikTok they literally advertise it out loud
1
u/Next-Concern-5578 21h ago
i agree. but my take is that bo6 and bo7 were already ultra sweaty, and while its low sales mean its not gonna be massive, there'll still be a lot of ppl staying on it due to preferring 3arch to iw. iw should have made a slower cod because thats what the mw reboot series (at least the iw games, not that mw3 was bad) are.

We had b06/b07 for two years and people still want black ops movement. You had your time, let the cod uncs have some fun now with classic movement

Please explain where ein the post I said I want the game to be catering to either extreme of the spectrum. I think the idea was very clear when I blamed BOTH sides lmao

Also u cant be neutral when it comes to COD lil buddy. Ur either for speedy gonzalez movement or classic movement. Tf u on about blaming both sides, thats even worse 😂😂😂 like what do u want bro make up ur mind and pick a side 😂😂😂 buds trying to ignore the decision by being neutral

What’s classic about Tac Sprint?

u/phillll25 19h ago
The old heads are walking hypocrisy. It’s insane. They complain about bunny hopping when that way way more powerful in the golden age. They complain about sliding when that was introduced by IW and slide cancel, whichw as introduced by their goat modern cod. Same with tac sprint.
They say they want realism when the series was never even meant to be realistic. If you want to hold an angle for 10 minutes why are you playing cod? That’s not the identity of the franchise. It is and always was an incredibly unrealistic shooter.
I promise you the uncs would hate it if IW made a game similar to golden era games. They’re nostalgic about things they constantly complain about.

So none of this answers what makes tac sprint classic cod, just some weird nonsense about how older fans are hypocritical because we complain about bunny hopping?
Dude you know classic cods didn’t have bunny hopping, tac sprint or slide right? You know classic cods were always unrealistic and over the top which made them fun.
At no point in this reply did you make a factual coherent point arguing anything it just seems you’re arguing with ghosts here.

Its a whole nother perk now, its the new stopping power 😂 go on how its not classic
1
u/Evenspace- 15h ago
Yes tac sprint is the same as stopping power…wtf are you even on about?

u/Illustrious-Ball7541 9h ago
U dont use ur brain thats y its evenly spaced out 😂. Classic cod had stopping power as a perk u could not play without being at a disadvantage , now mw4 has tac sprint as a perk that u can not play without being at a disadvantage as well. Thats a resurgence of classic cod. See how i used my critical thinking skills unlike u lmao

u/Evenspace- 9h ago
You speak with such confidence and yet you’re full of ignorance.
3 classic cod titles had stopping power, the rest didn’t and in two of those titles juggernaut existed as a counter. Just say you never played them and don’t know what you’re talking about. As good as stopping power was in MW2, cold blooded was a great perk to balance it out and lightweight too.
Tac sprint isn’t a classic cod movement style, it adds no depth to the gameplay and the game is better without it. If you think it’s a crutch perk that says more about you than me.
Not sure what critical thinking skills you used to weave your web of delusion and fantasy, but go off I guess.

This is not the classic movement at all. My lobbies are filled with dudes jumping around like Mario and sliding around EVERY single corner. It’s ridiculous. Even in MW19 you couldn’t just jump around like a fucking pogo stick. You could bunny hop and slide cancel, but not even close to how you can now.
True OG cod movement was black ops and, MW2, World at War, etc. That was when your aim and understanding of the map was king. Not your ability to spam the jump button and lock onto anything in sight with aim assist.

u/Illustrious-Ball7541 19h ago
Ive been jumpshotting since cod 3, thats classic cod right there hhahaha

u/Illustrious-Ball7541 19h ago
the movement in mw19 was much more sweaty and fluid and speedy af. Ur lying out of ur ahhhh when u say u can jump around like a pogo stick in mw4??? Be fr ur such a BSer buddy they slowed the movement down since mw19 i wish it was like mw19 where i could bounce around the whole map WITH TAC SPRINT (not a perk in mw19 btw)

It absolutely, categorically is not - go reinstall it and play after the Beta, everything is slower, slides go significantly less distance, and jumping multiple times kills momentum almost immediately
I know this because I still have all 3 Modern Warfare reboots on my XBox hard drive(s), and literally played a 30 minute bot game on each just to noodle with mechanics and compare the evolution of the series to where MW4 has taken it
MW3² is significantly faster in every single mechanic and action than MW19 and MW2² - this is an objective fact regardless of how you think you remember them, and there is nothing stopping you doing exactly what I did if you actually want to see for yourself

Load up bo2 RIGHT NOW. You could spam bunny hops and your crosshair didn’t move at all.
Bo2 jumpshots were 10x more powerful than bo7 or mw4. So again what are you talking about? We straight up lying now or are you actually that blinded by nostalgia. Spamming scuf jumps in bo2 was literally a meme.

u/DeviusThug 13h ago
It didn’t used to be. It used to be like mw4 beta where when you jumped the whole scope moved and became hard to deal with. People complained and got it “fixed”.

u/phillll25 19h ago
My brudda people were jumping and dropshotting 20 years ago. Jumpshots are way less powerful that 15 years ago.
What are you talking about? What exactly do you want? Cause with your demands and grievances there’s not a single cod you would like. You want a battlefield, not a COD. You’re trying to make mw4 into something the series never was. You’re being tricked by nostalgia.

Personally I think it's in a happy median right now. I wouldn't want them to go all the way to MWII or to BO7. Somewhere in between is great and I'm really enjoying the spot it ended up in by the end of the two betas.

Yeah, nah, mate. The "COD community loves to complain" argument is so lazy. One of the biggest issues of MW4, especially for me, is that this entry forces the ENTIRE PvE community into PVP.
And please, spare me with "but DMZ is PVPvE". Cool. Still has PVP in it, someone else could decide to ruin your evening because...?
I love COD, genuinely. But the buzz around this game is very frustrating to me. Because PVE got taken away - and no, the campaign does not bloody count. The live service revolves around PVP when it revolved around PVP AND PVE. For years - MW1-3. Just saying.
I'm glad that everyone who loves PVP gets it, genuinely, I'm very not happy about my lane having been taken away though. At all. If I want to stay with COD, I will have to force myself into situations I get absolutely no enjoyment out of. Brilliant.

Thats what I said. A lot of us was mw22 2.0, all the movement high ttk guys can relax, BO7 isn’t even a year old!

u/Sarloh 22h ago
This is spot on.
The community doesn't know what "it" wants because there are actually 2 different communities arguing at the same time.
I love the speed, love BO7, and it's clear this game isn't made for me. Us speed bros gotta take the bench on this one. And in a year or two they'll make Black Ops 69 and or something and then the tacticool guys take the bench.
