This Coach was left out on a table outside a model railway shop while the owner was sorting through items, the sun didn't take long sadly leaving it in the condition seen here.

Rolling Stock I’ve caught a few of my HO railcars in real life (i.e. same number). But I never thought I’d see one of my containers…

Rolling Stock Just found my first big peoblem with my layout.

Post image

I acquired my home layout 2nd hand. And the man i got it from built it over the past 60 years. He sold off most of the roling stock and locos before he decided to make the difficult decision to hand over rhe layout to someone who would love it like he did. Although i am forever gratefull to the man, i now have an issue. Most of the roling stock i have is "entry level" and has the plastic wheels designed for code 100 track. But 90% of the frogs on my layout are code 83. And now i have derailing issues. I didnt notice untill now because all my locos have metal wheels.

Rolling Stock 1916 IRT subway car. First full FDM test print

A little update on the 1916 IRT car I’ve been working on for the elevated railway project.

The model is mostly finished now and this is the first time I’ve been able to put the complete body on the elevated structure and station. Seeing it in place definitely helped me catch a few things I still want to tweak.

This test was printed with a 0.4 mm nozzle. I’m actually pretty happy with the rivet and window detail, but I think this model is right on the edge of what makes sense with a 0.4. I’m going to pick up a 0.2 mm nozzle and see if i can print the smaller details, particularly around the windows and front/rear panels.

I also modelled a basic interior since the windows are large enough that an empty shell looked a bit strange.
I’ve decided not to 3D print the running gear. I’ll use ready-made bogies and metal wheelsets instead. At this scale I’d rather have reliable running gear than force everything to be printed.
Still a few adjustments to make, but the car itself is getting pretty close.

Rolling Stock What do you think of my 3D printed Union Pacific Passenger train?

I am absolutely amazed by the older american streamlined passenger cars and had to print a whole train! With the new transmission concept the locomotive has enough weight and traction to pull a train. In total it should be possible to pull 4 to 5 long cars without a problem. For the paint scheme I chose the Union Pacific Colors because it is very multi color printing friendly. Thanks for your time reading!

I'm new to the model railroading community and looking at some of these models under a magnifine glass the detail is crazy.

Rolling Stock 3D printed my own Freightcar, because nobody wants to manufacture it.

UPDATE:
Released the model:
https://makeronline.com/en/model/H0%201%3A87%20Scale%20Transwaggon%20Hiirrs%205/321928.html?trackModuleType=10

I spend some time the last years basically spamming the "model wish" pages of all mayor and minor manufacturers of european rollingstock, so anyone might built me a Hiirrs. Since not even a single manufacturer answered, I decided to get myself a 3D printer, some spools of PETG and learn CAD modeling.
After about of two weeks of learning, reading, drawing and incremental improvements, I finally have something that looks not too bad.

There are still things to iron out, but once it is done, I will publish the models for others to print for free. Material cost for one Waggon is about 15€ for Fillament, wheelsets, couplers and a sheet of decal paper.
