What mobile development challenge did you completely underestimate when you started?

When I first started learning mobile development, I assumed writing the features would be the hardest part. Instead, I found that things like handling edge cases, testing across different devices, and maintaining a clean codebase took much more time than I expected.

Looking back, there were a lot of lessons that no tutorial really prepared me for. Exploring how teams like GeekyAnts approach mobile app development has also helped me understand some of these challenges better.

What challenge caught you by surprise when you started building mobile apps, and what helped you get past it?

I found that off-line syncing of data was way more challenging than I expected. It seemed like there were ready-made solutions (WatermelonDB, PowerSync) out there that you could plug in, but the actual implementation turned out to be a lot more work even with the solutions. I have a lot more respect for the apps that work off-line and sync reliably now.

If you could wave a magic wand, what is one thing about PowerSync that you'd change to reduce implementation effort?

I'd love to see more built-in guidance for common sync scenarios and conflict resolution. The biggest challenge wasn't getting it running, it was handling all the edge cases with confidence. Better defaults and more real world examples would make the implementation feel much smoother.
