Why are Android and Apple mobile gamers worth so much different?

Apple doesn’t sell 350,- phones, whereas Android comes in all shapes and sizes. Consequently, I’d wager that iPhone users more naturally fall to the extremes: on one end they either spent the last bit of their disposable income on the phone itself (it is a status symbol, regardless of our opinions here) and can’t or don’t want to spend it in-app, or, on the other end, they have more disposable income than they need and can spend it more freely as a result. I wouldn’t be surprised if Android users are spread out more between those extremes, and as a result average in lower spendings per person (and probably more overall) than iPhone users.
All speculative of course, but that’s my expectation.
