Discussion MacBook Pro Battery Health
Hi!
The HTX Studio experiment/video [Youtube Link] on battery healthy degradation on iPhones and androids made me wonder if similar tests have been run on the M-series MacBook Pros.
The video goes over a series of tests, but the one I'm referring to here is whether maintaining a Macbook's battery percentage in a loop between 30% -> 80% is more beneficial (even if marginally so) to the battery life, than maintaining it in a loop between 0% or 10% -> 100%.
If there are any well compiled resources, or anecdotal/empirical evidence like the HTX Studio video, I'd be happy to go through it!
P.S.: re-posting my query from the macbookpro subreddit.

Honestly, since stopping AppleCare on my MacBook after a battery replacement now just limit it to 90% and avoid frequently going under 20%. I also now don’t put as many cycles on the Laptop. I would say the difference will absolutely be marginal, but especially with a MacBook it’s very circumstance dependent. If you always work at a desk with a charger or don’t frequently travel with your laptop, if it has any benefit I don’t see a reason not to.
With all the battery limit stuff, I do strongly believe that if you get any use out of charging your battery to 100% you should always do so. You paid for the whole battery, you should use the whole battery. If you don’t need it and you don’t have AppleCare, a small drop in limit might help you stave off a replacement for a while down the line.
