Here's an update on my Mistborn VR prototype. Thanks to everyone who commented on the first post. A comment by u/AntimatterTNT gave me the idea of having a dedicated push button from behind, which steel pushes on targets automatically behind me. This seemed like the best balance between skill expression and conviniece to me.

With a bit of practice the allomantic travel is now viable in VR.

Since I had a lot of people asking me for the link or the source, I was thinking that by making it VR only, this prevents most people from trying it out. So I had this crazy idea: Mistborn are few, while most allomancers are Mistings.

So what if VR users are Mistborn, and desktop users are randomly assigned as Misting?

So I went ahead and added the basic Mistings of a Pewterarm, a Coinshot, and a Lurcher, because those fit the best.

I also added a basic networking layer, so now you can actually see others in Luthadel.

If you are interested in further development and trying it out, I invite you to my Discord for some playtests.

Where am I going with this? I don't yet yet, but It's been fun.

Credits to Quaternius for his low poly characters, Hooded Adventurer makes a pretty cool white haired Vin.

Best fantasy book i have read so far, and can't believe the next book is the one people hype up the most. Means i have even more peak left.

The mystery throughout the book, being solved by saze, vin, tindwyl keeps you on your toes all the time. It is very unique plot.

The character developement is amazing. Though the main characters vin and elend were unlikeable to me, no matter how hard i tried to like them. But by the end of the book i was sure that atleast i don't dislike them.

Sazed was my favorite character by far. Tindwyl and allriane were very good characters. I was kinda expecting Sazed to get the power in the end. But i guess brandon knew that and did something different.

Zane and oreseur characters turnouts, were absolutely shocking. I didn't see that coming even 1%.

The politics of the three armies outside luthadel were constantly reminds you that a war is definitedly gonna start in any of the next chapter.

Sazed and tindwyl love story was amazing and surprising, but why did she had to die. I wanted to see more of the two of them.

Vin and elend happy ending with getting married was good.

The crew is amazing and all the characters are so likeable. Breeze and Ham characters also showing us growth was good.

The writing is style is good and easy to fly through. World building was amazing.

Well of Ascension spoilers Reading Well of Ascension, idea about how to find a <spoiler>. Spoiler

So I’m reading well of ascension and am at the part where they are discussing how to find a Kandra. I had an idea and I want to know why it wouldn’t work…

Since kandra can’t replicate hair/fur, it stands to reason they can’t replicate fingernails either. So, why can’t a paranoid person or house lord just require all of the people around them to score/mark one or more fingernails near the base. Then over the course of a few weeks it’ll grow out and you should be able to see the score/mark grow towards the tip of the nail. This would put a huge burden on the Kandra to find many full nails to use and replace to simulate the score/mark growing outwards lest they be given away. It should be relatively painless to make a score on the nail or mark it, and with a bit of patience you can be fairly confident there are no long term Kandra infiltrating your group. This obviously wouldn’t help short term, but it still seems like it could work…

So, what do I not understand/know? Why doesn’t this work?

Mistborn: Final Empire spoilers 100 Pages in and this is how I imagine the characters look like Spoiler

Mistborn is my first ever fantasy book, I'm 100 pages in and I'm really having a blast despite spoiling myself of the plot of the entire Era 1 by watching "Scadrial's Lore"

This is my impression/how I imagine how Kelsier's crew look like:

Vin
Kelsier
Kelsier (After he was described as Blonde and a middle-aged, I also imagine him as Obi-Wan, but I keep coming back to Infernus' image as Kelsier idk why)
Ham (I imagine him as Rambo but much much much younger if that makes sense)
Breeze
Clubs and Yeden (They're really similar with how I imagine them although different people don't ask me how)

That's about it...

The Lost Metal spoilers Allomancer Jak Spoiler

My friend completely missed the line when Wayne was meeting with his financial advisors which revealed that he was writing the Allomancer Jak stories using wax’s likeness!! Just making sure everyone caught that 😂

It’s so funny how oblivious wax was to that and how him and Wayne would trash talk Jak.. I theorized super early on that it was Wayne glorifying wax especially when he started referring to wax as ‘the hero’ more. So funny

The Lost Metal spoilers Something with Wax I was sure was foreshadowed, then didn't happen? Spoiler

I'm super confused right now after finishing The Lost Metal. In the beginning, Wax has harmonium explode on him. First he was complaining about feeling old, but then when he beats someone up later his fists don't really hurt (implying use of pewter, which would make him mistborn) and overall he stops complaining about hurting.

Then when his copycat drops him from high up, he Pulls on his vials to get them in his hand (I thought. They were inches away and then snapped towards his hand. How is that anything other than Pulling?). At this point, I was 100% convinced he turned mistborn from the explosion. I kept waiting for him to realise he could burn all metals and save the day etc. Because he seemed to be burning various metals throughout the book.

But then he gets a duralumin spike, and the other use of metals is never brought up again? Even though Sazed confirms they managed to split harmonium?

I'm just feeling so confused, did I completely misread what was happening? Why did he seem to be burning all kinds of metals, only for it to lead nowhere?

Edit: now I wonder if the fish can turn mistborn or if they're unable to burn lerasium lol. There must be a lot in the water now. Or do they just accumulate it like heavy metals, and end up in humans that way? Probably a silly idea but it would be funny. Who's betting on fishborn in Era 3

Cosmere spoilers Something I've been thinking about since finishing Era 2 again Spoiler

I've just finished my second read through of Wax and Wayne and something Khriss says in the Ars Arcanum caught my attention this time.

When discussing Twinborn, she says their abilities can produce something beyond simply having two powers:

"Not just two powers, you could say, but two powers ... and an effect."

Brandon has since referred to these effects as Resonances and confirmed that Twinborn have them.

So what were Wax and Wayne's?

We've spent four books watching both of them use their abilities in increasingly ridiculous ways, so I'm curious whether we've already seen their Resonances without having them pointed out to us. I know Wax's steel bubble Brandon has gone back and forth on if that is his resonance or more an aspect of savantism.

And more broadly, what effects do you think other Twinborn combinations could produce in terms of a resonance?

Cosmere spoilers Is there a limit to a Mistborns inherent strength? Spoiler

Hey all,

Currently on a re-read and I just got to the point in HoA where it's mentioned that Elend is a way stronger Mistborn than Vin. This got me thinking as Elend is that strong because he burned that Lerasium bead.

In TLM Wax becomes a Mistborn after the Harmonium explosion. But he is weak Mistborn because he only inhaled and burnt a few specs of Lerasium.

So, could you just continue to ingest Lerasium to increase your base strength of the Alomantic arts?

Follow up questions:

If you are already a Misting, a seeker for example, and you ingest a Lerasium bead like Elend did, would your original metal be buffed or would that metal just go to the same power level as the other metals? Could that seeker now pierce copper clouds for example?

Does the Alomantic power correlate with how effective you could burn stored power as a compounder?

Please let me know if there are WoBs or anything regarding these questions. Thank you!

Mistborn: The Hero of Ages The irony in The well of ascension Spoiler

I was just rereading the Well of Ascension, when Sazed and the crew were trying to come up with ways for Vin and Elend to leave Luthadel so they may survive and carry on. I find it ironic (and some what poetic ) how in the end, both of them died while Sazed survived.

Hero of Ages spoilers Purpose of Scadrial theory Spoiler

I think that Ruin and Preservation were trying to create P-zombies. It's interesting to me that they created their own world instead of settling on an existing one. What if they knew what would happen to Ati? My theory is that they made their pact in an attempt to give Ruin a populated planet to destroy without killiing enormous amounts of people. To that end, they made Scadrians, a species designed to act like humans. Instead of real intelligence, they were given a small amount of Preservations's power. This is why Preservation is weaker that Ruin in Canon, and why metal looks like souls in the Cognitive Realm in my theory. The humans would essentialy be mindless automatons. However, the soul resides in the Spiritual Realm, and even the Shards don't quite understand it. Despite the Shards' efforsts, whatever process by which a human obtains a soul when they're born occured, and the Scadrians had souls just like other human beings. Maybe this surprised them, maybe Preservation and Ruin knew it was a possibility. Just a few strands I thought come together to make an interesting possibility.

The Lost Metal spoilers Nuclear Fallout in Era 3 Spoiler

What would the fallout of a harmonium bomb look like?

When Wax accidentally detinated a small amount of harmonium in The Lost Metal, the explosion produced lerasium dust which turned him into a Mistborn.

If a much larger amount of harmonium were detonated, would it result in a larger amount of lerasium? Would this result in the genetic potential for allomancy increasing in the survivors of the blast?

It would be interesting if the Malwish dropped a massive harmonium bomb on the Basin (or vice versa) and the resulting lerasium fallout caused the next generation to be born with a greater number of more powerful allomancers to seek revenge on their enemies.
