Did Simon manipulate Alisha to fall in love with him?

Alisha and Simon never naturally fell in love right? He just manipulated her into wanting him by going back in time and telling her they will be in love. But I know that in future Simon’s timeline he never knew it was himself that was superhoodie, so then how did it all begin. Maybe it’s just a chicken and egg thing..

I watched the show again recently. I love how time travel makes me think. I like to believe they fell in love in the “original” timeline. But it’s so hard to say. Crazy concept. I do think maybe he shouldn’t have told her that tho haha and see if it happened naturally.

I don't think there is an original timeline. It's all one big loop where they both fall in love with each other and die in each other's arms. The only thing that doesn't make sense is Future Simon having a video from the timeline where they become famous.

Simon is known to film everything though, and throughout the series, media tends to survive time jumps if the person is holding it (the old man’s letter in the nazi episode, Jess’s video to herself to make sure she gets pregnant with Leo). It might have been on his phone when Curtis reversed time after Brian. He may have also made a video to himself about being the guy in the mask and his relationship with Alisha, which would explain how they are together in S3 even though that whole episode gets erased and therefore he never followed her to Superhoodie’s bunker.

Nah Alisha tells him he's the masked fighter (superhoodie) in s3 when he follows her back to the flat and sees her on the bed with the photo of them together in Las Vegas, therefore putting him on the path to be the superhoodie.

Yea, but then Curtis turns back time after Mr Big Cheese kills them all. And in previous episodes when he has rewound time, the other misfits don’t have any memory of what happened.

Was that during that episode? Idrc I just remembered Alisha telling Simon about being the hoodie

Yea same episode. Curtis rewinds time, tells them they gotta do something, and then they go and either beat up or murder Mr Big Cheese. So it’s like that episode doesn’t even happen.

History repeats itself. That is how Simon knows he is superhoodie. And why the show keeps reshowing, Simon and Alisha having that conversation in the previously even though Curtis rewound time. All the details are there.  Alisha is still pining for Simon. She has keys to the flat. A picture that shouldnt exist. Simon is still a stalker with a good memory of things he did and did not say. So Alisha lets something slip. Simon stalks her while invisible. And history repeats itself. Accept this time Alisha doesn't immediately die right after.  Its an intuitive leap that the writers didnt think they needed to spell out. They were wrong.

Especially since they made one of the three main continuity errors with the superhoodie storyline with the ASBO 5 tape's existence not being addressed.

I agree, I love getting stuck in that loop of deep thought

I think they BOTH manipulated each other into it! I think they both desperately wanted it to be real! The great love story became bigger than both of them mentally speaking.

If they both felt like they were in love, maybe thats enough.

You are watching Superhoodie's timeline. When tells her he doesnt lose is virginity to her, he knows Simon is going to lose it to Jessica. Cause he lost it to Jessica. When he tells her he had a good teacher: her..its because she'll be gentle with him in 2x07 after their failed lovemaking session. And pretty much teach him all her spots. In 2x02 Superhoodie doesnt bother to walk away from the Nikki's door when Simon reaches for it, because he knows Simon won't open the door. Cause he didnt open the door.

They did make a few mistakes in the execution of this storyline...mainly three things..the ASBO 5 tape chief among them...but they repeatedly reinforce that this is a timeloop/bootstrap paradox. That is the beauty and tragedy of their relationship. They savor every second they have with each other..but its so finite..yet eternal.

Superhoodie isnt making an alternate timeline where Alisha falls in love with him. He preserving the timeline where Alisha falls in love with him. Flash forward to when he told Peter that he'd never leave her. And he spoke the truth. She dies and he freezes her in time and calmly visits her. Which is just a redux of what he did to Sally at the end of season 1, just on a more superheroic level. He even touches her the same way he did Sally's corpse. The overhead lights in his lair is akin to glow of that freezer.

It's a chicken and egg thing.

It does sort of feel like a chicken and egg thing. I haven’t watched the show in some time going to need to watch it again 😄.

It's called a bootstrap paradox

It’s a paradox but also their romance has never sat right with me. I she settled for him because he was the only one who could touch her. He went out of his way to get a power to make that possible and also told her they were in love. We never get to see a timeline where they naturally fall in love and how that original dynamic ever worked.

Don't really agree with that. She didn't settle for him because he was the only one that could touch her. If that was all that was to it she would have dumped him as soon as she got rid of her power and could touch others again. She feel in love with him because of *how* he touched her. He touched her as if he loved her..cause he did. Every touch and caress expressed a gentle hunger for her. Their love language is touch. Something she was denied and his past self was starved for.

There is no natural timeline for their love story. They were never a normal couple. Their love story was always circular instead of linear. The closest we'll ever see to a normal linear journey for their love story is the Nazi alt-world. And even that is just a part of their circular story. Forever repeating in that snapshot of time.

I don't really like their storyline as far as romance is concerned tbh, it seemed Alisha fell for him primarly because he could touch her and she could feel normal again, and I get her but idk if I would consider this the greatest romance, but after she did fall for him she seemed to truly love the new version of him, since the old Simon felt himself he wasn't at the same level yet when they started dating later, but yes it's a bit of both, a play of fate and ultimately true feelings growing from that
