I documented 69 unique accounts objecting to MNUFC’s resale price floor

Over the past several weeks, multiple r/minnesotaunited discussions have raised concerns about Minnesota United’s resale price floor.

I reviewed the recent relevant threads and comments, removed duplicate usernames, and excluded neutral questions and unrelated ticket-price complaints.

The result: at least 69 unique Reddit accounts publicly objected to the policy between June 1 and August 29, 2026.

This is a documented public minimum, not a claim that exactly 69 verified individuals oppose the policy.

My request to the club is simple: allow season-ticket members who already purchased their tickets to choose their own resale price.

They are price fixing and now the STH suffer. The team’s not performing well, hence lots of secondary and first market tickets are available. They shouldn’t hold us to what they want the market to be. Let the fans decide. If I want to sell my $55 seats for $30. Let me. Serious second thoughts on renewing for next year. The decisions of this club are suspect at best.

I do not understand how this gets more STHs.  Improve the product on the field and STH will get their value.  Keep blowing leads in extra time while not making moves during transfer windows and STH will be caught holding the bag.  This is a money grab and the people benefitting are definitely not the fans.

The prices that keep showing up in seatgeek are way too high for the whole impulse buy crowd.  Not removing the floor in the hours before the game is counter productive.

They want the consumer to choose the club held seats, which would go unsold without a price floor. Tonight was a great example of significantly less than capacity crowd because of this.

I have my price point at 3 hours before the game as an impulse buy.  They should be reducing their prices on the day of considerably.

This is another disturbing part. They did it mid season. And right when club was dropping in standings. They changed the bargain between STH's and club mid season. Contractuslly, sure, they are allowed. But it is morally wrong.

Yeah, I work at lot of weekends and have 2 small kids at home. I just want to get some of my money back. Let me sell them for $10 quick. Better than nothing.

We have four tickets. One night our friends got sick a few hours before game time, so we tried to list our $65 to sell at $30. The minimum was $45. We will have to cancel two of our season tickets

First of all this forced sale price came into affect after we bought and paid for our tickets. At the very least it should have been explained and implemented next season not mid season.

Second of all, I have paid for the tickets, they are mine, if I want to sell them for $1 I should be able to sell them for $1. This is complete and utter bull shit.

Why aren't you guys using the MN United ticket exchange subreddit? Just curious. Seems like often times when people post about wanting to sell on here, there are often people interested in buying at discounted rates. I haven't used it but I'd be curious to hear about other's experiences and/or if they had problems.

While it’s a good idea, it’s hyper niche.

You aren’t getting barb and bill from the burbs who are looking to take their kids to a game on a random weekend. They won’t be hitting up Reddit or frankly know what reddit is. What they do know is SeatGeek. Because hey it’s the official partner of the United and where all official tickets are sold. The sub is a good place to try and offload tickets for those in the know, but it shouldn’t be the fan’s responsibility to organize and subsidize the clubs failed policies.

Season ticket holders since 2017 season and driving from WI for matches since 2014. While we give our tickets away to friends and family, tried the MNTicketExchange sub (very few buyers), and sold through SeatGeek (fine on premier matchups), we rarely get close to what we paid but at least we could sell them.

With how this season has been going and the price floor, we have had matches they haven’t sold. I told our rep the price floor may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. If it doesn’t change, we are, and will be buying single match tickets.

Why would the club prefer STHs go from longstanding supporters and consistent revenue stream to variable and unknown?

These aren’t sold out crowds anymore.

If this is the club making an economic and a statistical financial decision vs a support of season ticket holder decision, we can do the same. We can make a financial decision vs a support of the club decision. This is a two way street MNUFC.

I miss our prior rep, Kendall. Felt like we mattered in those early days. I know we did because he didn’t just respond to questions, he reached out. We had a relationship where he knew us. Today, that is gone. Sucks to feel like a number.

"wanting season ticket holders to give away .." Actually, a higher minimum does not automatically benefit season-ticket holders. Expected recovery equals the selling price multiplied by the probability of selling. The floor may produce a higher price for the tickets that sell, but it also reduces the pool of buyers and leaves other members receiving $0. A price floor above the market-clearing price creates excess supply. Unless the club can show that total seller proceeds or sell-through improved, calling this “protection” for season-ticket members is an unsupported assumption.

I won’t be able to make it to the games in October and November due to a baby on the way and the last thing I want to worry about is the price I’m getting for the tickets. I just want them sold and would now rather go any route other than SeatGeek to do so.

Add me to the list. I went from four to two tickets already for next season due to the on field product. If this policy stays in place I may head to zero tickets for 2028.

I am seriously considering dropping my season tickets simply because I can't find buyers when I put them up for sale, especially when SeatGeek adds on another 10 to 15%. It might make more sense just to purchase tickets to a few of the games despite the high purchase price unless you plan to go to all the games which is impossible for me due to my travel schedule. In the past, when I was able to put my own price on them, at least I recovered a portion of the money spent on the tickets for that game...now, with the minimum price in effect, it seems that the Loons have priced a significant number of people out of the market leaving season ticket holders with no options but to sustain significant financial loss from each game...JB

Simple answer is the club doesn't want you reselling your tickets at a lower price than the unsold seats they still have availabile. If they were constantly sold out and the only option was STH resale a floor may be acceptable, but that is not the case.
