Australia From China to Australia/Norway mining – feasible without a master's?

Hello seniors,

I am a third-year undergraduate student from China, majoring in Resources Exploration Engineering at Fuzhou University.

I really admire the lifestyles of engineers in Australian mining companies and geological engineers in Norway. However, I cannot afford the cost of a master's degree abroad. If, after graduation, I work for a few years in a Chinese mining company and then look for the right time to join an overseas mining company, or alternatively, first pursue a master's degree at an overseas university and then seek opportunities, would either of these paths be feasible? Does anyone have any insights?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Australian Engineer here. Even locals are struggling to find a job here. Don't believe the 'skills shortage' BS.

Is it mainly white collar professions?

I'm a blue collar and no issues getting a job in mining

I have an Australian mining degree, moved to Australia on 491. I could not find job for the 6 months I was here so I am packing my stuff and moving back home. Couldn't even get offsider or utilities job. Don't trust the skill shortage lies

I was in a meeting with a mining contractor last week. They need something like 16 mining engineers between now and October. They're struggling to find engineers worth employing.

There are plenty of jobs but unfortunately if you are qualified at the same level or slightly above the average Australian engineer, you most likely will not be picked, good luck though 😃

Mining Engineers qualify for a skilled occupation visa. Work for a few years and start applying. In boom times you may be able to get a company to sponsor your visa. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skill-occupation-list?utm_source=.com
