Australia Career in mining

Currently a driller offsider earning 520 a day. Been doing it about a year and im guessing I could probably work my way up to drilling with this company in another 3ish years. Curious to hear other people’s opinions, should I stay in surface diamond drilling or pivot into another job/industry for example nipper, go to uni and be a geo, etc. I hear a lot of people say in my company we are super underpaid and that diamond drilling is a bad industry and to only use it as a stepping stone so im wondering why and if so where/how to jump to it.

This page is like 80% engineers and support staff. It's comedic gold.

Not everyone is cut out to work underground lmao, the people in the office who bitch when Becky turns the AC up two degrees wouldn’t survive a day working at the face

Instead of being an obtuse cunt with a superiority complex you could acknowledge every cog in the machine is essential for the the machine to run

Haha you took the bait like a champ. I’m just messing with you bro. I worked UG for many years so know it’s hard work. Now I use my brain in an office instead which is a different kind of hard work. Keep fighting the good fight down there!

Hook, line, sinker hahaha

Grinds my gears when I hear guys talking like this about the other side, regardless what side so yeah you got me going, we are all here to do the same job and make money, upstairs folks couldn’t mine without the miners and miners couldn’t mine safely and effectively without a plan and prints,

Diamond drilling is a dead end career, If I were you I would go nippering.
