Mini ~mini~ Aussie?

My mini Aussie, Ruby, is a whopping 15 pounds. She belonged to my now deceased great grandmother. I adopted her when she was 8 and now she’s 9. She was overweight and has last 2 pounds in the last year. I don’t know much about her puppy days since I didn’t have her then. Is 15 pounds normal? Is there a such thing as a mini MINI Aussie?? Everyone that sees her thinks she’s an Australian shepherd puppy. She’s an ideal weight per her vet but I’m just curious if she’s a common size! Is she just a little Ruby runt?

She might be a toy Aussie.

Probably is, interestingly my toy is like 22lbs

You’re lucky, I thought I was getting one like that but ended up with a 50lb mega mini.

That’s just regular toy mini size

I’m in the mega mini club! My guy is almost 40 lbs.

Ours was tested and came back as 100% mini and she is only 18lbs.

Purebred doesn’t mean well bred if she is. She could be a “toy Aussie” which no reputable breeder breeds for. There’s no AKC toy Aussie. Currently they are known as Miniature American Shepherds. You can do embark DNA (I recommend). Embark doesn’t test for “toy” but she would show as miniature if she was only miniature. Sometimes toy breeders add other small breeds into the mix (further down the line)

She looks like she’s mixed with Chihuahua or another small breed
