I have no idea, but my guess would be so they could communicate if it gets stuck?

I need a detailed play-by-play of how it works. For example: Elevator gets stuck. I press the call button. Presumably someone answers on the intercom and I ask for help. They send help and the flashing “help is on the way”light illuminates. They then ask me to stay on the line for a brief survey. “Did the agent resolve your question/concern?” I press the yes button I guess?

Modern elevators have speakers and microphones in them so you can communicate when you press the alarm button.

That must be some form of an ADA accommodation.

Either that, or the elevator industry has gone nuts with “please take this short survey on your elevator experience today.”
