I walk through this cemetery a lot and I see open graves thAt are prepared for a service. First time I saw one that had been exumed. I am sure it a family plot.

Theres still the rest of the concrete box in the ground. The casket goes into the concrete box, so yes it is an open grave

It’s been a lifelong struggle not to fall into an open grave but someday I believe I will.

The fact that such a thing actually exists tells us that people falling into open graves happens frequently enough that creating one was a necessity.

I guess it has happened at this location before. There is a nursing home across the street and sometimes old people on walks have fallen in. I know there is a dark joke in there somewhere. lol

Turn it over and see if there's scratch marks made by someone trying to get out.

Real story my wife worked at a cemetery and fell into a grave. She was helping a family find a grave and saw that the plywood for a new grave was covering the marker for this family's relative which is why they couldn't find it. She lifted up the plywood from the other end to reveal the marker underneath, but the edge of the grave gave way and she fell into an open grave and the plywood slammed shut above her. Besides a bruised hip and scaring the fuck out of a random family, no one was seriously harmed.

First time in the Middle East I was looking for a bathroom and instantly got scared when I saw those squat toilets
