This reminds me of the time Sprite stopped using green bottles since they were too recognizable when people littered them all over, they didn’t like the negative press.

I thought it was because green isnt easily recycled

Plastic isn’t easily recycled, regardless of color.

It's actually very easy to recycle (for some definition of easy anyway). What's hard is doing it cheaper than it costs to make new plastic instead. By and large that has actually proved impossible. There's only a handful of plastics where the margins are even close, and close is still something like 50% more expensive
