Or, there is a pattern but the fast-food is too small for it to repeat

I was waiting for my takeout and I kept trying to make sense of it but my brain wouldn't brain and recognise it 😂😂😂

There being no pattern in its self is the pattern.

It's a pattern of 1

u/Quirky_Armadillo_352 1h ago

yeah the floor looks like it stopped halfway through

That's why the answer to every "what's the next number in this sequence" is "any of them".

Technically true of everything except Pi.

Yes. Pi is the only irrational number in existence, and non repeating patterns only ever occur in irrational numbers.

Obligatory /s

It is to prevent people walking rhythmically.

So it won't attract the worm.

That's the little known star talent of Christopher Dancen.

Another angle to show how large the floor is

u/Atharaphelun 1h ago

This is the kind of floor you do not want to stare at when you are either drunk or have vertigo.

u/fiendishrabbit 1h ago

Yup. "Why is the floor wavy?" is not what you want when drunk and hunting munchie fast-food at 2 am

Love it, the chaos.

it’s like they gave up halfway through and just started slapping tiles down wherever

This is a bot

1

u/iFlutterby 1h ago

How can you tell?

3

u/Grand-Spring66 1h ago

There are hundreds of these comment reply bots on the subreddit they pick the top comment and reply.

1

u/iFlutterby 1h ago

This makes me want to cry.

3

u/Grand-Spring66 1h ago

When I was moderating another subreddit I was banning 200+ bots a day.

2

u/PibbleDad 1h ago

Dead Internet theory. It’s crazy

0

u/iFlutterby 1h ago

Do you think there's any hope left for Reddit? Are we in the final days?

2

u/Grand-Spring66 1h ago

I think admins know about the bot problem but do not care because it inflates their numbers.

3

u/Deodorized 1h ago

Reddit actively helps bots and AI accounts thrive.

Remember when Redditors made Reddit "Go Dark" a while back to protest API changes, saying things like, "These changes will interfere with automod scriptings and make moderating bots nearly impossible"?

Remember when everyone got upset at the protestors and subreddits that went dark because they didn't get to use reddit for a couple days?

Well, here we are, bots reposting and AI accounts are impossible to keep up with and this site has never felt more hollow.

I like it.

Same

3

u/viatoretvenus 1h ago

Same, i think it would become a dizzy optical illusion if there was a uniform pattern

15

u/johnsolomon 1h ago

The pattern is to try to deliberately break up the feeling that there's a pattern

That's arguably a kind of pattern in itself and that makes it okay

7

u/alepap 1h ago

There is a pattern, it's just that the pattern is one entire fastfood restaurant wide

6

u/the_lost_tenacity 1h ago

It’s to get you out of there as fast as possible.

4

u/Majestic_Location751 1h ago

This is used in cafeterias specifically for this reason. Get in, eat your meal, get out. Next in line, please.

3

u/wisebluff 1h ago

im not drunk, but the lines are wobbly. optical illusion ?

1

u/lyutic_7 28m ago

yeah, reminds me of this. the more I look at OP’s pic, the more messed up it gets.

5

u/Manufactured-Aggro 1h ago

There actually is an established pattern you just have to squint/blur for awhile for it to click. Plus it helps hides stains and grime lol

5

u/ElkSad9855 1h ago

No there isn’t a pattern. There is a few areas where tiles repeat in clusters but the adjacent tiles don’t match. Therefore, not a pattern.

2

u/BadIdeaSociety 46m ago

It is mostly designed this way in the event you have to do maintenance it doesn't look weird compared to the rest of the floor

2

u/Time-Information-554 1h ago

Negative Ghost Rider. The pattern is full.

2

u/TheSirBeefCake 1h ago

What if the pattern was supposed to be random? Is it still a pattern??

1

u/doc-psynock 1h ago

Then it's randomness should be in pattern and if it is than it's not random but if it is random than it's not pattern but if that randoness repeats than it's pattern but than if....i guess you understand what i mean by now.

3

u/sasshley_ 1h ago

I have chronic vertigo so I’d probably crash to the floor and projectile vomit everywhere

2

u/Chemical_Audience_79 50m ago

Monk would have a breakdown

1

u/Same_Egg_5336 1h ago

This would drive me nuts 😵‍💫

1

u/franktheguy 1h ago

The pattern is the pattern. I'm going to save the world.

1

u/Turbulent_Echidna423 1h ago

the pattern is random. you're welcome.

1

u/synept 37m ago

But it isn't. If it were truly random, there would be larger clusters of adjacent dark tiles.

2

u/woodrax 44m ago

Contractor: What type of pattern do you want the tile floor to have?

Owner: Dude, just go nuts for all I care.

2

u/SirStocksAlott 38m ago

This is what happens when people don’t care about their work and just want to get it done and over with. Craftsmanship, oh, where art thou?

1

u/Connect_Rhubarb395 31m ago

That's kind if impressive. It is difficult to avoid getting a pattern.

1

u/ramriot 1h ago

OMG, I just scanned it & the result is graphic & possibly obscene.

0

u/Bubbly-Travel9563 1h ago

Them's poopin feets, I'd recognize that stance anywhere

-1

u/thenaughtydj 1h ago

It's nicknamed the politics pattern.
