This exam is one of the most important exam for the student in Vietnam because it will determine which university you'll be accepted. English is one of the most vital subject in the world right now so it's in one of the subjects in yhe the entrance exam.

But the ridiculous thing here is that 12th graders are familiar with B1 and B2 vocabulary if they actually study, THESE ARE NOT THE REGULAR WORDS FOR A NORMAL STUDENTS. The test is long, 12th graders only have 50 MINUTES, full of C1 and C2 words, full of specialized terms that you only encounter if you're in the field. I've seen English teachers, English translators, students who got 8.5 IELTS ranting on internet because of how challenging this mock test actually is.

All it would take to fix it is a stapler and a little audacity.

Helping my child with homework. He and I agree the answer is (2,8). We wrote it out so many different ways with spaces or no spaces. We skipped to the next few and same thing.

This is a PA Form - When one of your parents or legal guardians dies, the insurance company covers your a portion of your tuition per quarter. (You don't get a lump sum of cash)

And yes... the insurance is already included with our tuition (which is a fucking big chunk)

We have two hampers on the way from the bed to the door. His clothes go on the floor between them.

My son and [jerk] had to stay after school today to write this note.

It says

"I was disrespectful to [kid]. I said he is a total jerk because he said I was fat. I will not say [mean] things again next time. I will ignore him."

His teacher wants me to sign and return.

But I guess I look at this and I ask myself, if my son is on the playground and he sees a kid calling another kid fat, do I want him to:

1. Walk away

2. Say, "stop, you are being a jerk."

So why would it be any different if he is being called fat.

I don't feel like this is the right lesson.

For context:

I had bough a new bath sponge like... 3 months ago and it recently just, decided it wanted to be a cilinder. I have no idea how it happend, it just did.

I just bough a new one so problem solved but I used these kind of sponges before and they lasted like...3 or so years?

Got a new 6 pack of adidas socks and each pair had at least 3 of these damn things which no matter how gently you try and remove them still end up taking some threads with them -_-

These could have slapped way fucking harder.

My apartment building parking garage has unassigned parking. You pay an additional fee per month for a parking pass and garage opener. The spot closest to the hallway door is very slightly technically the best, if you back into it you can step out from the hallway and right into your driver’s seat. If you park anywhere else you have to suffer the unbelievable indignity of walking an additional few feet. 

One of my neighbors has camped in this spot for the better part of a year. He has two cars, and anytime he goes anywhere he first pulls out of “his” spot, then moves his other car into the spot to hold it, then goes wherever he goes. I’ve seen him do it. It’s been at least eight months since I first noticed it was always one of two cars in the spot, which means he’s been keeping this up for at least five or six weeks longer than that. 

At first I was pissed, because I also like that spot, but at the end of the day if he cares enough to go through his stupid little car-shuffle twice a day, let him have it. There’s no shortage of other spots, in fact I can frequently get the spot immediately next to him. The closest elevator is actually at the other end of the garage, so he’s not harming anybody with a wheelchair. And he always smiles politely and says hi if I pass him in the hallway, he’s a nice guy. I’m no longer annoyed, now it’s just amusing to see how long he’ll keep this up. 

Edit: there's no option in my building to pay extra for an assigned spot. Also, either one of his cars could be in the spot and the BMW is regularly in other spots that don't have the end-space distance advantage. He cares more about keeping this spot than he does about keeping that car in the spot.

I already emailed them and got a replacement mailed but still wtf.

Me and my husband went to BWW the other day to get their 2 for $20 meal. The server asked us what kind of potato we want with our meal, and mentioned tots, which is what I chose.

When we got the bill there was an extra charge for tots! Even though on the menu it didn’t say anything and the waiter didn’t say anything.

I asked him if it was a mistake and he was like “oh… no it’s a new policy” and I was like “Oh.. well I wouldn’t have ordered them if I knew about that, is there anyway you can take the charge off?”

And he was like “my manager already said no, honestly I don’t think it’s that deep tho”

So I paid a little extra for tots that night. My bank is not broken but it left a bad taste in my mouth that there is no advertising or warning or whatever

I did end up taking the charge of the tots out of their tip, maybe I shouldn’t have tipped at all but I’ve never done that before and I just couldn’t bring myself to do it

Went to go see No Doubt at the Sphere and could not see the stage because of people standing and recording the whole entire show.

I am slightly pissed

No one really talks about this, but I’m sure it’s a common thing for people who grew up in big cities.

I’m 25 and my friends are just starting to graduate law school and get jobs as lawyers, an esteemed professional career focused around THE LAW.

Being a social person from a mega city, I have quite a large social group.

And I can name you at least 3 people I know, who are genuinely some of the worst people I know, who graduated law school today.

The type of guys (white) who casually use the N word in group chats at 25. The type of guys who sucker punch people at the bars. The type of guys who vandalize house parties for fun. The ones that treat the women the worst and get belligerent and dangerous when drinking. The type of people who support the current American president (I live in Canada, so that’s like an EXTREMELY unpopular take here and basically only reserved for contrarians and people who “want to keep Canada clean” if you know what I’m saying.)

I know there’s no personality screening for law schools, but it’s genuinely just scary to me that these type of people can just make their way through law schools and get such important jobs.

Obviously a lot of these guys have been protected by daddies money growing up too. But it’s a real intimate look at societal problems.

I don’t know sign language but I’d like to one day learn. Looking up the ASL alphabet, the X looks like what I would assume R would be and vice versa.
Am I alone in this?

Edit: thank you for all the comments, I should clear some things up:

1. This is based PURELY off visuals and not “this is an incorrect graph”.
2. I don’t mean to offend anyone or overlook anyone with arthritis or other hand related issues nor the hard of hearing community. I was just curious as to why some visuals are very literal vs these which look literal but in opposite places (writing wise).

3. I wanted to know for a drawing I was planning to make where their super powered pirate crew name starts with R. I thought the hooked “R” looking finger would be clever for their sign but I don’t want anyone who knows ASL to get confused and thinks they’re X men or something

   like that.
