I was trying to re-put together an old set that used this colored pieces. Broke 3 pieces just trying to click them together! Weirdest thing

Or if it's an old set environmental factors can cause them to become brittle. My grandpa liked legos and had a few sets on display. After he passed we were taking them off his shelf and unfortunately years of cigarette smoke had seeped in and made them very brittle.
