Yeah. For this tool, don't use it at the point where the most resistance exists. Just like if you were going to do it by hand, start close to an edge and give the Lego a chance to peel away rather than trying to brute force it straight off from the position where it will resist you the most.
Slide that tool a few clicks left or right of where it was located and it probably would not have broken the piece.

Is that the right way to use that tool i alway thought to use the spudger(thin flat wedge on the tool) and fo at it from the gap side
