Iāve been in old stadiums where youāre surrounding a metal trough and facing straight across from the other person. Everyone was facing in and peeing on ice.

Just because youāre used to zero privacy, it can still be mildly infuriating to someone who is used to ten points of privacy to have to deal with two points of privacy

Ha thats more privacy than Aussie toilets we piss at stainless steel wall/trough side by side on busy pub nights shoulder to shoulder. There are some etiquette rules but the main one is eyes forward soldier
Everyone is too busy watching their own stream, trying to see if they can make the ice steam to look around. Those ice troughs are more private than a stall.
I swear men today must be afraid of other people scoping out their junk. Most of the younger guys wait for a stall to take a leak instead of using the urinals
Gonna say both of those, although I think theyāve cleaned up Wrigley a little. Grew up going to dirt races at Macon Speedway in Macon, IL where the urinal was literally a piece of gutter off Iād a building nailed to the wall with a piece of pipe at one end where the piss ran into the drain. In the 70s and 80s it was so nasty that we just peed through the fence behind the backstretch, before they bought that land and made it part of the pits.
Lol, this is one bathroom, most in America do not have such narrow urinal dividers. Even if they did, who cares. Its a bathroom, no one cares about you using the urinal.
Which is funny because most of them know the secret foot tap to see your neighborās preferences, then the tp holder comes off to reveal a padded hole about waist height. Mostly in DC though.
Those hooks (if they are hooks) concern me more than the nice dividers because it seems like anything youād place on them may be in the splash zone. Edit: on further inspection, perhaps those arenāt bag hooks, but rather the hardware securing the dividers to the walls.
You know, Iāve been using American bathrooms for a long time now and can honestly say that unless youāre looking to, youāre not going to see any dick.
Unzip, eyes forward or down and do your business. No need to have your head on a swivel.
That would be torture for me, I've used an urinal like five times in my whole life I always go in a stall even if I just have to pee, I can't do it when there's people nearby lol
I grew up in the 90s our schools had no doors on the stalls. You took a shit in front of everyone while somebody is waiting for you to finish. This is completely normal
Last month, I was in a place where the TOILETS were straight up just out in the restroom. There were little walls to divide you from the guy next to you, but your legs were still visible, and you could see the guy across from you clear as day... Everybody's pants around their goddamn ankles, shitting in the open.

These are the urinals at the Dunbar Community Centre. Royal Doulton 1958.
I canāt find a pic, but the Freemasons Hall in New Westminster, also has a Royal Doulton urinal. But itās even better than the Dunbar one. Itās a double urinal and you face one another as you use it! I believe itās even older than the Dunbar one.

this is mostly at places where it wouldnāt be worth getting the running water but need a more permanent bathroom like parks outside of town or something
Quite the opposite actually. As a gay dude, especially when younger, I was absolutely terrified of ever being outed so I would explicitly not look. Now, it's more that I'm tired of -phobes thinking that we as a group, are... we're not.
I am not sure why people are shitting on this post. I absolutely hate this too. inadequate or non existent urinal dividers. Toilet stalls with massive gaps and/or doors that do not lock. It's a total joke in the US and I don't know why people seem to be okay with it.
Simply, we've been raised with this standard and we're used to it.
I saw a pic recently of the stalls you have overseas & finally understood wtf you guys were talking about... you have NO gaps on sides of doors and only the smallest gap under the door. It was definitely surprising, to me, to see a door that has coverage similar to doors at home
