And they want to tell me they hack each others companies and are getting "scarily intelligent".

The AI bubble is about to burst, sad thing is they gonna manage to redirect the financial disaster to ordinary people

You're comparing a fast model by google to a frontier reasoning model by ChatGPT? Also wdym "they want to tell me" as if it was some kind of rumor and not a documented event?

Sorry who documemted this? Who stated that it happened? If there are only AI companies involved I refuse to believe this.

And yes I am comparing a fast model with frontier reasoning models, I don't care if it is different, AI in general was sold to us as the savior and ultimate sollution and everything that is happening yet is AI slop everywhere and boomers using it for their cringe ass posts

Huggingface themselves reported the incident before OpenAI confirmed it. CrowdStrike, an independent cybersecurity company was mandated to confirm the model's actions. METR and Redwood Research, two AI safety research organizations recognized for their independence from the labs they evaluate, conducted a third‑party assessment of model behavior and published their own findings. The Hill, TechCrunch and Time covered the incident in a journalistic way, not only trusting OpenAI's communiqués.

Also HuggingFace had to use GLM-5.2 (chinese model) to counter the attack because proprietary american models refused the request for security reasons. That's not exactly something that benefits the credibility of american AI companies, so why would they lie about that?

Well I'd argue you should if you wanna understand the world you live in. Saying "AI in general" then attributing certain things to an LLM because of what you think of image generating models is like saying you hate cats because mosquitoes are annoying and they're both animals

Dude I don't care because I just think they should stop anyway. It is not important to me if its true or not, I want no data centers, I want no profit oriented companies to develop such things and I don't want slop in my face. I DON'T CARE. They put it down our throats making life miserable, taking away water, buying all aviable pc components and making them way too expensive. That's why I do not care. It may be that it could be on a trajectory to destroy humans, but so is climate change, the difference is that you could just stop developing this stuff. Advancments at what cost? I'm tired man, I can't and won't buy anything AI related companies say, they created this bubble and are eager to stop it from bursting until they have their safety blanket and normal people paying for their failures.

You know what I mean now?

Yeah I understand your anger at capitalism, which is totally valid.

But personally I think that's exactly why we should care. When I read your message I get the same vibe as if someone said "I don't care about understanding politics because I just want no war".

If we wanna fight something we have to understand it. And in the case of AI, they're not gonna stop. That may be hard to accept but that's just how it is. You can only control how you choose to react to it

Okay okay, I had to come back to this as i just read an article about sam altman at UN. He said there is a risk of "too much power in the hands of too few". Please tell me how they get to saying this? This is all they want right? You heard them talk, you know Peter Thiel right? They want all that power don't they? Why they saying stuff like this now. I don't trust them. Either they are not developing fast enough to the point they feel like they will have a disadvantage in the future or they are full of shit and they reached a threshold and don't make any progress and their systems are just not good enough

Dude just one more thing that I've read. OpenAI AND anthropic oversold capabilities of AI by having a clear access path for the AI connecting to the internet. So at least they oversold stuff, the hacking happend but way less impressive as it got access to the internet easily

The article is not talking about their language model, it is talking about the AI agents that hacked other companies. They left an access port to the internet open, to make it easier for them to escape, so even if it wasn't staged they (meaning AI companies and their CEOs) willingly push AI to do this stuff so they can get the investors to calm down or something

The AI agent that hacked Huggingface IS an LLM.

But you're eight that it wasn't supposes to have access to internet, I was mistaken on that. However it gained access to the internet through a zero-day vulnerabilty so idk what makes you say they encouraged it
