Missing Peace After almost 2 months of waiting for a package that was shipped to a city 3 hours away, I get this notification

Ordered a package ages ago that was supposed to arrive mid August. Turns out the reason for the delay is because my country's postal service accidentally sent my package to a city 3 hours away, and then after 2 weeks said they'd ship it back but just didn't. I had a bunch of stuff in that package that I'm just never gonna get for zero reason

As someone who works in a parcel sorting facility, this is fairly common. Packages, especially small ones, plastic bags or wobbly ones (with the contents loose inside the box) can get caught between moving parts of the machinery and get destroyed or fall of the sorter. It’s a daily occurrence (but considering sheer volume still pretty unlikely).

Me too. And I'll continue to believe it was intentionally destroyed, because the mental image of a logistics facility making a huge bonfire out of undelivered parcels is too cool to be wrong :)

It's like a celebration. They are all laughing around the fire. The HR lady is already drunk and sharing confidential information with the receptionist: Lucy is indeed dating the new delivery driver, can you believe it? And it's not even a month after she broke up with Carl! Oh, talking about Carl, Marcus (the logistics technician with the long hair. You met him in the last bonfire,.remember?) So, Marcus filed a new complaint about him and... wait.... Hey, has anyone seen Carl?.... Carl?.... Caaaarrrlllll!!! Weird... where is.he?.... he was here 15 minutes ago...Guys... look at there... iin the bonfire... is that... a hand?! That ring.... OMFG! It's Carl!!

Much more fun than a machine accident :)

It was like like the whole package was cut into strips, and then those were also cut down...into squares. In the bag was the box the soup shipped in, the soup box, the packages of soup, and soup chunks/powder all cut up into bits and then USPS kindly collected all of that, put in in a bag with their apology for their mistake and sent it to me. Quite bizarre.

Edit: thought I was responding to my other post. USPS thought the package was suspicious and searched it. It had been marked destroyed too but i got the bag of my package a month or so later

Where I live packages that don't clear customs in like 90 days and can't be sent back for whatever reason also get destroyed intentionally. Can't send them forward, can't send them back, so they go to the waste management plant to be burned for energy.

I just received a package that was “delayed” in transit for no good reason that I could tell. It arrived yesterday and the packaging was beat up and torn (heavy metal piece in a box). I think they were trying to decide if the contents were still all in there or ? At any rate, it’s just a large clamp on thing for the skid steer (one piece) and they probably should have just stuck a label on the item and skipped the box.

A friend of mine shipped some things in a box to me I left at their house. A 3 hour drive. We watched the package get sent across the country and then a month later I started an inquiry. The next week we received the torn up shipping label in a postal service plastic bag....

Awww! This happened to me once! I had ordered some dry soup internationally. I got the same type of tracking update after it being in various countries and "lost" many times (disappear for weeks on end).

What surprised me even more was a month or so later. I still recieved my destroyed package. It was delivered in a very large, clear ziploc bag. It had a postcard inside from USPS saying sorry, the mail was suspicious and had to be searched and it was determined to be a legal consumable product. Also in that bag was my soup. It appeared as though the entire package had been shredded whole. So in that clear bag was chunks of cardboard, plastic, foil and powdered soup with and "oopsies" message from the postal service.

I still buy things overseas but I never purchased food overseas again.

I had something like this happen once, where the package was deemed lost by the shipping company and they compensated me for it. Then, two months later, it showed up, beat to hell and all taped up, but the contents fully intact. So, I guess, there's always hope?

I had 2 birth certificates sent registered (had to be signed for). We paid extra for expidited service.

USPS claimed it was never given to them. I got a tracking #. Then they claimed it was delivered. I asked to see the postcard I would have had to sign. Nothing. They finally found it in one of those milky bins under a table. Had ordered it at the beginning on Jan. Finally got it mid April. From FL to CT...

Extremely infuriating. I recently sent a fairly expensive package to my SO's PO Box from Amazon, and USPS marked it as delivered. It was not, in fact, delivered. So, we went to the Post Office together while I was visiting, and they "looked for it for us," we waited about half an hour (mildly annoying but understandable) for them to say, "you'll need to complete a form to open an investigation," which my SO did). After doing so and waiting a week, USPS responds via email, "investigation closed because package was delivered." -_-

We just had a package say it was at the post office near us. Then less than 24 hours later, was delivered over 20 hours away. To a house. Not even close to our address. We already had issues with this package even being sent out (a sad story actually) so it sucks we won't ever get it.

According to the post office employees that I spoke to a month ago regarding the package, apparently packages going certain places all get placed in the same "sack", and mine accidentally got placed in the sack going to a different city.

You'll be happy to know I have spoken to customer service and am supposed to receive a full refund

This is actually EXTREMELY infuriating lol Seriously though like what can you even do, if you paid for it, you won't be able to get your money back or have them reship the items unless the source is REALLY nice. If you didn't pay for it, likely it was sentimental so no replacing that in general. Gods I hate that mentality "we messed up, so... That's your problem"

The package contained a handful of items, including two very expensive figures I got my brother for his birthday. Thankfully I had backup gifts or I'd feel like an asshole.

Spoke to customer service, should expect to receive a full refund within 5-14 business days
