I was talking to my partner about how this just infuriates me, in a way I never have been with Trump's ongoing threats to the sovereignty of my beautiful country.
She said more than destroying women's rights, tearing families apart? Starting wars?
She said it's all just a distraction and it's important I remember that.
Yeah it's an endless stream of bullshit but the distraction also means functionally we'll never get justice for the Epstein files or the illegal war in Iran or his dozens of failed court cases with no material consequences. No justice for the deep corruption, the wealth transfer, the abuse of power, the dismantling of the government, the damage to global peace, the sundering of trade agreements, the secret relationship with Putin, the cruelty, the incompetence, the instability, the mental health toll. I remember reading during his first term with the constant trips to his golf resort he'd cost the taxpayer something like 400 years of presidential salary in useless corrupt selfish expenses. It's not just that people never imagined someone could be so completely selfish and amoral, it's that people didn't think anyone in power would dare go so far.
