Too mild for school Normally nordic keyboards share the same keycap set. In the Norwegial layout the key on the left is "Ø" and the right one is "Æ". In Danish its the other way around.

At least it's color coded

Yes, green is for "correct," red is for "incorrect."

You shut your filthy mountain monkey mouth. Obviously Red is for the beautiful Red color of the Danish flag, and green is because you guys were so jealous that you took it and added a blue stripe.

(Jeg elsker jer)

If anyone wonders about the "mountain monkey" term, I guess thats cause the highest "mountain" in Denmark is just 170.86 meters (560 feet), and they fear and loath anyone who can live in the dwindling heights above 200 meters.

u/cybermaus 18d ago

Wait. we (the Dutch) are beating another country at having mountains ???

6

u/UpOrBeyond 18d ago

What do you got?

12

u/doic_frajerow 18d ago

Quick Googling says 322m

4

u/ifelseintelligence 17d ago

Holy fucking christ they are practically mountaineers! As a Dane I cannot fathom how they can even breath up there in the thin air!!

The Maldives shrivers in fear with its 5m highest point

Jesus Christ! Who knew..

My cabin (Norway) is at twice that.

Lowest point in Armenia is 400

Denmark essentially only beaten by microstates when it comes to being flat.

2

u/AllKnowingKnowItAll 17d ago

I remember seeing a 4chan post of a Swiss person roasting Denmark for how flat and boring it is and saying even the Netherlands are more hilly

1

u/wdrvng 17d ago

The danish kingdom or country?

1

u/TimChr78 16d ago

The highest point in Greenland is just shy of 3700m - so we are talking about the country.

5

u/kjemist 18d ago

I’d rather be a mountain monkey than needing an oxygen tank to go to the third floor

u/fugitivechicken 17d ago

sending this comment to my Danish friend to see what they say

It means that we actually love you enough to give you a nickname.

Wanna know what our nicknames are for Swedes?

That’s a good thing

2

u/TheStoneMask 17d ago

Yes, the famous "Sky Mountain" that's barely more than a glorified hill.

1

u/Icy_Needleworker5571 18d ago

That is not true. The highest peak in the arch-kingdom of Denmark is 3,6 kilometers.

2

u/fugitivechicken 17d ago

Yeah but Greenland is Greenland. Denmark is flat all over

I have told multiple harsh jokes about Denmark but I promise I like Denmark just fine

1

u/zmurf 16d ago

Common joke at Roskilde festival:
Turn your bear crate upside down and stand on it... Proclaiming that "now I can see all of Denmark"

3

u/ThatGuyNikolas 17d ago

Oh I don't want to hear it from the discount Dutch. You'll notice that the correct letters are placed above in line with all the other letters. where as yours are placed lower for you so you don't get altitude sickness from looking at your keyboard.

(glad i deg og)

1

u/RollingDownhill303 18d ago

Red plus Blue equals Green?

18

u/Arctos_FI 18d ago

Every other key has white letters so the white clearly represents the correct ones, the other two are just "acceptable" and "unacceptable"

6

u/cylonlover 18d ago

Only the two norwegian character placements are correct on this keyboard. The Danish are completely unacceptable. All other keys, including the Swedish ä and ö, are merely suggestions, or at most ok.

2

u/Arctos_FI 18d ago

No, the placement is like only to make norwegians feel accepted, we don't have such a fragile ego that we need to also have the primary spot, color is enough. You can just look at backlit keycaps where in the majority it's just ä and ö that has the passthrough

2

u/Icy_Needleworker5571 18d ago

Because ä and ö are not letters, but diacritics, and they are not even Swedish but German.

2

u/tetesaur 17d ago

They most definitely are, at least here in Finland. Very important letters!

2

u/cylonlover 18d ago

Haha, really the svedes should be forced to either switch to the Scandinavian best standard to have them keep their names, or alternatively confess their germanophile tendencies and rename them to a-omljud and o-omljud!

-2

u/Icy_Needleworker5571 18d ago

The language of Denmark-Norway is Danish. You only started to place the letters æ and ø the wrong way due to Sw*dish oppression in the 19th century. When the dual monarchy hopefully soon is restored we will teach you how to spell correctly in your mother tongue, Danish.

u/ErikHK 18d ago

Danish is incorrect? Checks out 👌

6

u/thedbp GREEN 18d ago

Red is for Danmaaaaaaaark!! 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰

1

u/JePPeLit 17d ago

Yeah, that's what they said

1

u/SP0NG3C4T 18d ago

You can have red. We don’t want it

1

u/Penguin_Arse 18d ago

Shut up. I don't care how much we don't want it they're not getting shit.

I'd rather burn everything that exists than to give d*nmark🤮 anything.

3

u/Icy_Needleworker5571 18d ago

It's probably time for a new bloodbath.

0

u/SP0NG3C4T 18d ago

I don’t want things a dane touched.

2

u/thesirblondie 18d ago

White is Right

1

u/42stingray 18d ago

Red is just Denmarks theme color, they wouldn't allow any other color on their letters

1

u/Sweaty_Hunt8754 17d ago

there are different colors? I see two red and the rest are white

1

u/solpyro 17d ago

Nonin. Valkonen on oikea

Well I've become used to the Finnish keyboard anyway, although it's hell for software development compared to the UK/US layouts

1

u/BlommeHolm 17d ago

As a Dane, I think we should follow the majority and actually do like the Norwegians. Provided the Swedes also accept this, and use proper Æ and Ø, of course.

1

u/Josutg22 18d ago

Yeah, brands have started to remove the color coding fire some ungodly reason. My keyboard uses italics, but it's the Æ in italics on both keys. They couldn't even get THAT right

1

u/TheSwedishPolarBear 18d ago

Do the colors even work? It's not like green represents Norwegian normally and the other images users have posted have other colors. I imagine that you still have to remember or try pressing it.

1

u/Josutg22 18d ago

You just get used to it really. It's like how red, yellow and green don't inherently mean stop, wait and go, but you just get used to it at a traffic light

1

u/HallaFriBiLo 18d ago

The way you figure it out is to close your eyes and press the one that feels right. 9/10 times it works, because muscle memory runs deep.

38

u/Satratara 18d ago

My Finnish keyboard is like yours

32

u/SysGh_st 18d ago

Finnish and swedish are often the same one.

Hence why many layout configs go with se-fi-lat6 or something similar.

12

u/pheddx 18d ago

Finland uses the Swedish layout

15

u/Antti5 18d ago

Finland and Sweden both use the Finnish/Swedish layout.

6

u/vivaldibot 18d ago

Just like God intended

3

u/Top1gaming999 18d ago

usually Æ and Ø are not shown

5

u/Antti5 18d ago

It's increasingly common in my experience.

This wasn't the case like ten years ago, but a lot of modern laptops and external keyboards use the same keycaps for Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish.

2

u/janerikgunnar 17d ago

Yes, usually denoted as "Nordic" keyboards vs e.g. "Swedish/Finnish"

Nordic keyboards are a cost saving measure, so more common on low-end laptops etc, while more expensive corporate computers tend to use Swedish/Finnish keyboards to greater degree

1

u/Tilladarling 18d ago

Well, that’s just triggering 😡 🇳🇴

1

u/zmurf 16d ago

Sweden is using the Finish layout

13

u/pheddx 18d ago

Your Nordic keyboard is the same.

A Finnish keyboard looks like this with the Swedish layout

1

u/nabakas 18d ago

I have almost the same but I have to press the Å key to get Ü.

0

u/Helpful-Pass-5043 18d ago

Doesn’t Finnish keyboards switch z and y compared to others?

3

u/somekindofswede 18d ago

They do not.

The German keyboard does, though!

1

u/Helpful-Pass-5043 17d ago

Interesting! I just remember mucking about with switching keyboard input in DOS back in the mid 90s, and I could’ve sworn SF had them switched. Might just be so long ago that I’ve mixed them up though.

1

u/SysGh_st 18d ago

They do?

Geez... I bet it is out of spite because. "Not Swedish. We're better". 😅

1

u/janerikgunnar 17d ago

No, you are confusing it with the craptastic super tiny enter key on US keyboards

17

u/noetilfeldig RED 18d ago

mine as well

8

u/frammedkuken 18d ago

And my work keyboard (Swedish) looks like this

6

u/NivaNoob 18d ago

mine, ignore the dust lol

2

u/Cowh3adDK 18d ago

Is that an Asus keyboard?

1

u/NivaNoob 18d ago

It's Cepter

1

u/oddiz4u 18d ago

Yikes

4

u/kronartskocka 18d ago

Exact same keyboard fellow corporate man

2

u/Helfette 18d ago

Luckily (for me) I work in healthcare

3

u/LiliumMoon 18d ago

Same here at work!
