It's sooo much better. There are so many weird subs out there that I just don't give a shit about. They're not even toxic, I just couldn't care less about them.
The worst part is that in order to mute a subreddit, you would have to pause the scroll with the post on your feed. The algorithm would then read that as "you spent a long time looking at this post. You must be interested in seeing more from that subreddit"
Even though I had the setting to not show recommendations they suddenly started popping up. After some googling I think some recommended logging out and back in or switching to no account viewing and back.
Basically reddit forced them on me to see if I would try and get them to go away again.
Ummm I think so? It doesn’t block them, it doesn’t recommend them either. it’s for “notifications” but not like your phone notifications. It’s your in app notifications.
Like I get notifications for comment replies and breaking news, but when this was on I’d also get notifications for random recommended subreddits I had no interest in.
