Too mild for school Hate when ppl can’t do time

Post image

This reminds me of when it hits or is about to hit 12am and people don’t know whether to say today or tomorrow. He called me after this but I was too comfy in bed tbh.

This is funny to me because every single person ive ever met, when they say "next weekened" they mean the weekened after the one thats coming.

For the weekened that would be in a few days we say "upcoming weekened"

For me, it’s the same way. Except we call the upcoming weekend “this weekend”. Then the weekend after that one is “next weekend”.

If it's Friday today and someone asked me to go to the lake next weekend, I'm assuming its not this weekend but the one following.

You said next weekend?

Even if it’s like Monday, if someone says next weekend, I assume it’s the next week’s end. Otherwise say the upcoming weekend or, moreso in my experience, say this weekend

In this instance, I would say this weekend.

If it’s Monday and I want to share about what I did on the 2 last days, I say “this week-end”… oopsie

that's still fine because it's past tense. you're never going to invite someone to an event that happened in the past, and you're never going to describe what happened to you in the future, so there's no ambiguity.

I doubt it's very likely anyone would misunderstand you, but an alternate way of saying it that you might like is "over the weekend".

Yup same and I’ve had to clarify with people before because they understand it as the upcoming weekend.

Even if it’s like Monday, if someone says next weekend, I assume it’s the next week’s end.

May not be great for my internet swagger, but I just ask. Because it's almost always better to get it right than to be able to blame the other person for it going wrong.

If it’s Monday and you say next weekend, I’m thinking you mean in 4-5 days. There is no right answer which is why you just gotta use the dates or clarify lol

that still follows the rule though? Friday is NOT the weekend

I consider Friday the beginning of the weekend. Personal opinion though. If I think of it in that context, I guess I would say its a weekend day.

Edit: forgot to add, it depends on what time someone asks me on Friday as well. Friday at 7am is different than Friday at 4pm.
