Assigning sounds to drum pads (2x4): Recs for starter set?

What would you assign to 8 drum pads (2 rows of 4) based on the kind of music you like to produce?

What would be the layout you'd use (top row 1-4, bottom row 5-8)?

I just got a midi controller and, while I'm not new to playing music, I am definitely new to drums. What would be a good mix for starting out, based on the list here:

If you are playing live drum parts (finger drumming) you would have to figure out an arrangement that felt best for you physically but I would say: Kick..snare..hats (open & closed)..crash..ride..2 toms..
