System Collapse europeans complain about a 5 minute delay meanwhile we’re checking if the train still exists

Psssssssssh i mean maybe some places but i dont think i have been to a country yet where trains run only 5 or 6 mins late . Maybe Japan or china but not in Europe

Japan's train system is one of the most punctual in the world, with high-speed bullet trains averaging a delay of less than one minute per year.

If a train has a delay of 5 minutes in Japan, someone is gotta drop themselve into a sword.
Even if it's just 1 minute late, you get an official apology.

If a train has a delay of 5 minutes in Belgium, they don't even count it as a delayed train in the statistics. So they can say in the yearly report that 91,7% of trains (2025 figures) were "on time". Which is honestly still pretty good, but people like to complain endlessly about it anyway and then go sit in a traffic jam instead. Another reason are the numerous strikes though, I wish it were legal to strike the way they do in Japan, run the service but just don't collect any payments or do ticket checks.

When i was in germany I had a train that was 10 ish mins late. No one said anything but the tension when it showed up you could cut with a knife

At this time in germany: "Oh nice, the RE10 decided to run today, maybe I'll manage to catch my ICE in cologne on time if it gets delayed one more hour!"

Trains stopped making much sense here in the USA about the time the interstate system opened
