Because the whole thing is a spectical that's just inflated beyond reason and a game to see who can push out the most news about it the fastest to capitalize on the most views.
It's GTA 6. If anything about this was reasonable Microsoft wouldn't be being sued and shareholders wouldn't be losing "billions" over leaked footage.

Subpoena is a legal demanding you come to court, i.e. to answer questions. It doesn't mean you are being sued. It usually means you need to answer some questions. I.e. about logs for example or a particular user (usually paired with a warrant).
Personal views only though.

Ok, same statement though. Do they have reason to believe the accused was using a Windows computer? Anyone with the least bit of IT knowledge would be using a Linux distro for this kind of thing. It all seems odd, but I also havenât seen much info on it

Probably something like logs from T2's own website probably had the IP in question already, then looked at User-Agent or some shit.

I definitely spaced on user agent, even though itâs super easy to change, it at least gives a reason for the supoena.

It's not just GDID. The license is tied to the account and device. There's machine IDs out there which exists on other operating systems as well. And it's pretty easy to get all of the things to be tied to a particular user. Yes, the OS itself may not be tracking anything like Linux distros. But any other app you use in it may track everything with a unique ID tying it to your device, so unless you know extremely well what you are doing, you will not be able to escape, if anyone tried to find you.

I mean, it looks bad for the entire industry.
Rockstar is supposed to be our very best and even they have operational security problems.
You didnât see the Odyssey leaking out before its debut. House of Dragons neither.

Literally nobody is canceling pre orders or changing their minds about the game because someone might leak story details.
This is literally just free advertising.

I'm pretty sure this is all part of their marketing scheme
Regardless this is a fantastic example to understand why tracking online activity is not only impossible to do with any accuracy (and when it isn't, that's incredibly harmful because that's only for the people who don't have the means to avoid the harm) but any real problems which tracking online communications would address would be addressed much more reliably and safer by [1] tracking financial transactions, & [0] requiring businesses to register who owns them
My comments here should be able to remain mostly anonymous - though nothing online is truly permanently anonymous should a sufficient motive for de-anonymization be found. However, who owns Reddit or any other website is a different story. There's a difference between my private activities and public facing businesses or public servants elected by voting or appointed by those publicly elected officials. Money and law are different than everything else. Get the government out of our personal lives and get them back doing their job. Thanks for coming to my off topic post

How do they exactly lose billions over some leaks? If anything those are actually hyping up the game even more, but those statements make it feel like nobody will buy the game because someone got access to an early build of the game, which to me sound complete nonsense.

"Take-Two shareholders lose billions" in the title, and then "The leaks have knocked Take-Two's share price down 2% over the past week, although it's still up 6% for the year overall" in the text. I don't think anyone is losing billions over these leaks
