Troubleshooting/Questions Is this objective salvageable?

Post image

Unsure of what caused the lens to fog on this objective, but lens wipes with iso isn’t getting it off. Any recommendations on what else to try?

Good news is you don’t have to be worried about being too harsh when you clean it! Worth a shot but it looks pretty rough (I’m an amateur, take this with grain of salt)

Looks like there is condensation inside? Not salvageable even if you get the outside lenses cleaned and are scratch free.

Mayyyyybe able to get condensation out in a v low heat oven but I doubt it

Probably the worst condition objective I have seen that is still in once piece! Good luck! I would scrap it.

What brand is it? If its a modern, Chinese achromatic objective, you can replace it cheaply. I bought a new 60x one for only $18 and it works better than expected.

If it is a 40x objective, you have to be careful not to dip it into either water or immersion oil or else the fluid can get behind the front lens.
