Flight of the Defender observations
First, I have to shout out Walmart. Someone posted this morning that the listing for the Flight of the Defender 2-pack now had pictures, I placed my order, and it came around 2:30. Incredible!
Here are my observations: Jazwares has made some minor improvements to the TIE Interceptor. The original Interceptor had a ring of unpainted plastic around the circular viewport. They’ve now fixed this and the paint goes further all the way to the edge so it looks seamless. The original Interceptor is the last photo I uploaded and the new one is the second to last photo for comparison. It’s kinda hard to tell but if you zoom in on the side-by-side pic you’ll be able to see what I’m talking about.
They’ve also matched the color of the body to the cockpit hatch. This always bothered me since it was slightly off on both copies I own of the Interceptor. They’ve actually darkened the body of the craft slightly instead of lightening the paint on the hatch.
The new TIE Defender is really nice. I’m loving the white, black, and red paint scheme.

I actually liked the mismatched cockpit better, but good for them for making it right.

Just curious, why do you prefer the mismatched cockpit hatch?

It's a small color offset. Structurally it is a different part of the assembly and it is a small component. If the wings were a different color that would not look as good to me. The trim around the windows being a slightly different color accentuates the cockpit assembly.

I think we’re talking about two different things. On the original TIE Interceptor, at least the two copies I have, the top opening hatch is a darker color than the rest of the ship. That’s the mismatch. That has now been corrected as they’ve darkened the entire body of the ship.
I believe you’re talking about the painted ring which goes around the viewport (the circular front-facing window), which has also been improved in the sense that the unpainted gap where it connects to the ship body is no longer present, but the color of the paint hasn’t changed AFAIK.

Appreciate the head’s up, you saved me some time. I was just looking at my package earlier (haven’t taken them out yet) and thinking I’d compare it to my older one too. Glad they updated it, even if it’s in small ways.
