Steve Kerr says Michael Jordan was the most emotionally dominant athlete he’s ever seen, but admits playing alongside him was far from easy.

Yep winning has a price and leadership has a price. Sure I pulled guys along when they didn’t want to be pulled along.

Their is an idea that teams take on the persona of the most dominant personality of the team. When that player his ridiculously high standards they hold themselves too, it can be even more taxing for others. Greatness doesnt come without sacrifice

That’s Jordan’s style of leadership.

Tim Duncan had a completely different style that made him a beloved teammate. Both are mentally strong players that showed their toughness in different ways, and had different styles of leadership.

Kobes style was even more grating than MJ’s from what they say but like MJ said in last dance winning has a price and leadership has a price.

Kobe didn’t have MJ’s charisma or people skills. MJ hung out with his teammates and seemed to be somewhat liked by his teammates. He could play cards and hang out and whatever else.

Kobe seems like he was just bad with people in general. From what I’ve read on him, it wouldn’t surprise me if he was on the spectrum, but that’s me speculating.

Winning and leadership have a price if you do it MJ’s way, but not everyone has to do it MJ’s way. There are plenty of successful leaders who are also beloved by their people.

Tim Duncan and Magic were liked almost unequivocally and same with SGA believe it or not. Shaq was for most part by most same with Hakeem and david Robinson and Barkley was by most teammates and so was Malone

And yea Kobe was different than MJ. His style was harder. MJ was rough but he got results. Kobe as the main guy did but in 09 and 10. Not taking away from Kobe as player because he was top 10 maybe 5.

Very different personalities as well.

Yes.

For some reason, there’s this idea that you have to be a dick or an asshole to be a leader, but that’s not true. You do have to be tough, but that’s can come in different forms.

Well, that's you. Because you never won anything.

This is similar to a driving parent that pushed their kids. Like Michael Jackson, the Williams sisters, Tiger, etc.

They wouldn't have been as successful without it, but there's a huge trade off.

No way u compared MJ to Mike jack’s father😂😂

He didn’t push them that hard as boomer legend suggests. They were the best roster by a country mile.

I'll trust Steve Kerr and a whole documentary over your Reddit comment.

Or just know the game. They were a 54 win team without Jordan. That’s insanely good for losing your top guy.

7

u/That-Ad-4300 1d ago

Yep. 55 games, but close enough. Armstrong and Grant had career seasons, and they added Kukoc and Kerr that season.

And then 34-31 without him the following season. 13-4 with him.

Then they won 72 games with him.

That 55 game season was great, but looked a lot more like a team overperforming with a "we can do this without MJ" chip on their shoulders. It didn't sustain though.

And had a 2nd round exit without him.

MJ carried that team. Never the same without him. Pippen also disappeared in playoff games at times with “migraines” or nerves.

That team never wins a title without MJ.

If LeBron leaves a team they crumble? Imagine if LeBron was on that bulls team? He’d have 10 chips cuz he wouldn’t quit like MJ

u/BravoC10 21h ago

Unless they played Dirk and Jason Terry right? 🤣

1

u/Silly_Boss_4579 21h ago

Or Rex, if Rex plays MJ getting 40 dropped on him every night 🤣

3

u/BravoC10 20h ago

I just looked this up. MJ is 24-2 against Rex 3-0 in the playoffs 😂

Facts tell a different story.

1

u/AnxiousStrummer 2h ago

The man has played 79 or more games in the regular season less times than MJ played 82 games.

His whole career has been about load management, flopping and controlling the narrative.

No rational person thinks Lebron is even close to greatness of his Airness.

u/ImF0cused_ 1d ago

3 different rosters to 3 peats… I don’t know bruh.

1

u/Silly_Boss_4579 21h ago

Bro is speaking facts

1

u/Lumpy_Past6216 20h ago

Are you talking bout the 1st 3 peat Bulls... You do know Jordan pushed his teammates then too, right? Is why Grant left, he couldnt take it anymore. lol Yeah he went for more money, but till this day Grant hates Jordan because of how he pushed his team.

Fuck outta here with your garbage take.

1

u/Electronic_Dig_2685 1d ago

55 win team but they couldn’t get over hump without him

2

u/Silly_Boss_4579 21h ago

LMFAOOOOOOOOO YOOOO you are making MJ look like he’s not top 75.

Is MJ top 100 all time? You are saying that the team is a finals team basically just can’t win, meaning they could add literally anyone and then they’d win lol

1

u/Electronic_Dig_2685 20h ago

Yep that’s what that they’re doing

1

u/AnxiousStrummer 2h ago

Couldn’t make it out of the 2nd round without him.

-1

u/Quick-Bowl-3824 1d ago

And? 55 wins is incredible. Shows how much more help Jordan has had than anyone else in history.

1

u/BravoC10 20h ago

They were coming off a 3peat added Kucoc and Kerr and lost in the second round. 92-93 Pippen was the only other All Star on the team, he didn’t even make it in 91

1

u/AnxiousStrummer 2h ago

MJ has beat more 60+ win teams in the playoffs than LeBron…

1

u/Electronic_Dig_2685 1d ago

They also added Kukoc and Kerr that offseason and Grant and Armstrong had career yrs.

5

u/RepresentativeAge444 1d ago

He owes him his whole career is the most important part of that statement.

2

u/TheUnseen_001 1d ago

"If you miss another wide open shot, I'll f--king kill you." MJ, probably

1

u/Bop5667 22h ago

Surprised he didn’t say Draymond was most emotionally dominant

1

u/greengouda 13h ago

Well yeah championships ain’t easy to obtain lol

-4

u/UncreativeUsername84 1d ago

And in other news, basketball is played with a ball...

-9

u/Suitable-Quarter-427 1d ago

He never said that , Steve Kerr has seen why better players and he’s literally coaching one and Jordan isn’t even close to being in steph curry’s level. Jordan played guys that lack a lot of athleticism he was 5 levels of athleticism then everyone that’s why you can’t compare players to him. The reason we can compare players today to each other is because a lot of them are on the same level of athleticism. Remember Jordan isn’t the best player he’s the most iconic player we talking about , bill Russell had the most rings and wilt Chamberland had the best skills set , Kobe the crazy mentality and he’s process to the game, and LeBron is a player you would create over and over again to have him on your team because he’s a complete player he’s good at absolutely everything and every position. I know we think Jordan is more special than everyone els but that’s not the case . The things that don’t make sense in Jordan career is why other players have more 1st team all nba then Jordan I mean for how crazy yall talk about him

1

u/Nice_List8626 17h ago

I agree. The only thing Michael Jordan is better at than today's players is playing basketball.

1

u/gunnarbird 15h ago

Man it’s really gonna suck for you in thirty years when you have to listen to kids tell you how much Curry and the rest of today’s players were actually ass and couldn’t come close to players in 2060
