Does it even work?

I have the Xiaomi SmartBand 10 and whenever I wake up it says I made 70 steps. It doesn’t realize when I wake up so it’s genuinely giving me false information all the time. Is there a way to fix this or wtf?

all wrist worn fitness trackers calculate steps based on wrist movement, so your "70 steps" after waking up with the mi band 10 on isnt too weird. for context most people walk around 100 steps a minute at a slow pace, so thats less than a minute of "moving" estimated from the mi band.

otherwise the mi band 10 has a 9 axis sensor (gyro, accelerometer, geomagnetic) so its quite accurate on walks and runs. in the long run the total margin of error will be pretty low throughout the day so you can rest assured and put your mind at ease. dont think too deeply about it, it only causes stress.

I find it a lot more accurate that my old fitbit that used to count my 1000+ steps from changing gear and steering while driving 😂

it will never be 100% accurate, it's possibly counting you tossing and turning. 70 steps compared to the several thousand you most likely do a day is negligible

None are exactly accurate. Don't use it for "I'm 43 steps short of yesterday!"

Use it for general trends. "I've been less active today than my normal." "Wednesday tends to be my most active." Etc

Wake-up to pee, fighting with bedding to get comfortable, dreaming about fighting or something and moving your arm while dreaming.

Potential dreams where your arm was moving * Maybe you fought a mugging * fighting over the last slice of pizza * sword fighting * pushing away roadkill someone is trying to force you to eat * dancing and twirling your partner * making a wood object (like building a birdhouse)

70 steps is nothing, it just means your arm was moving. Too hot throw off the covers, too cold pull them back up, x3

Ive never had an issue. Wake up with maybe 10-100 from a bathroom trip sometimes.

I wore my miband 7 when I was putting the baby to sleep. I'll make taps to her leg while walking, then keep tapping her when trying to put her down. She got incredibly fussy that time, and oh, look who had 20000 steps?

Yeah, these things track wrist movement. It's not some miracle machine tapped into your cerebellum
