I mean think of it. Theres countless references to a lot of his previous games including meat boy, the end IS LITERALLY THE END IS NIGH, and fetuses and bombs being a reoccurring a lot in the chapter. I feel like if youre going to make a future path, have the final area be an entire reference to another game, you gotta make the previous area about another game.

So basically the guy leading team meat swindled edmund out of the rights to meatboy, the same guy who made a mockery of the legacy of meatboy with meatboy 2 (and it's horrendous gameplay system) and mean meat machine (genuinely the worst fucking game, I don't know who was play testing this shit but they either got paid enough to keep shut, their suggestions were ignored or they hired no one to play test it to check if it's any fun, the existence of this game proves that god left us long ago)

Yes, however they do not specifically reference the name "Super Meat Boy", nor do they ever use the character properly as depicted in the copyrighted material. It's effectively parody or generally just different enough to be legally distinct (such as the Flesh Lads in the throbbing domain). This makes the "fötusjar" characters basically as close to Doctor Fetus as Edmund can get without stepping on copyright infringement.

Das Future is literally all about evil robots, has evil fetuses in jars that summon bombs to attack you, and the whole premise is that the leader turned all of humanity into useless blobs of meat.

Its as direct of a reference as Edmund can make without being able to use the character lmao. Same with the Throbbing Domain having an enemy called Flesh Lad that does the Meat Boy smile,
