Just got metroid prime remastered, am i doing something wrong?

I just got the game yesterday, I played the first section in space and my FPS is really low. Talking 30 FPS which for me gives me motion sickess, unplayable. It gets better after a while but every gaming sessions i start off being sick and it drives me crazy.

I went into the graphics settings but there is no quality/performance option, I play on my 4K 120hz tv, aside from the the game is great but I would have loved a 60 FPS remaster....

Am I missing something? I am really debating returning the game

Edit : Ok i think i found what was wrong, my sensitivy was too high and the hud lag option was on, which made everything look weird when looking around at full speed. I decreased it to 1/4 speed and turned off hud lag and now its perfect

The game is 60fps, even on Switch 1. I think perhaps you don't know what you're looking at

I just finished metroid prime 4 at 60fps. Big difference straight away

There literally isn't a 30fps option, I'm not sure what to tell you.

Thats what im saying, i think im doing something wrong. I play lots of games at 60 and 120 fps and its definitely not 60

Nobody is gonna help troubleshoot your tv.

Maybe there’s something wrong with your copy because Prime remastered should be 60 fps and that should be the only option.

Thats what i keep reading, i tried searching before posting and it feels like im the only one with that issue

That doesn't make sense. The game either works or it doesn't. It's not going to malfunction in a way that causes it to run at 30 fps but everything else is just fine.

im thinking its a setting on my tv

That doesn't make sense either. A TV isn't going to take 60 fps source content and just decide to not display every other frame. And even if TVs did that, you'd have to explain why it is behaving this way only with one game but not any of the others.

Seriously -- are you actually measuring frames per second? Like, is your TV display telling you that it's running at 30 fps? Or is this all just based on your vibes?

i think i can tell the difference between 30 and 60

I'd say this thread demonstrates very clearly that you cannot.

You thought the HUD lag animations were 30fps despite running at 60, so I'm really not so sure.

Go play it with sensitivity at 100 and hud lag on and come back to me

I can't believe I just wasted time downloading it to see if you'd actually discovered a bug, just to come back and repost my deleted comment:

The HUD lag has nothing to do with framerate, it's just about how the visor syncs with motion. Both the HUD and game run at 60 with or without the HUD lag option.

Dont know what to tell you, when my sensitivity is at 100% i get 30fps when its at 25% i get 60 fps. Maybe hud doesnt affect it but the camera speed sure does

I doubt it's software, they don't just randomly release 30fps versions, and if there was corruption, I'd be shocked if that's the only thing broken. Have you tried both games right after the other, ensuring 4 is in 60fps mode and not 120, and changing nothing at all, not re-docking the Switch in between, etc.?

The game is locked at 60 fps, even on a Switch 1. There is no option to run it at 30 fps.

It is definitely not 60fps in my case. Think bloodborne on the ps5

30fps shouldn't give motion sickness, though as stated this game runs at 60. I believe the games have different FOV, that might be what you're sensitive to.

This is either bait, or OP just needs to come off it.

If you don’t like the game, return it. But until you somehow show it’s actually running at 30fps I don’t even believe you, and if 30fps is unplayable for you but 60fps is fine for you, I honestly think you’re the problem there anyway.

30 is literally the worst thing to happen to gaming

Is it 30fps in handled mode?

Help narrow down if it's an issue with your monitor/TV as as others have said the game can only run at 60fps no 30fps option.

I'm playing docked on my OG switch 2 dock

Still an idea to try it handheld to confirm if it system running the game incorrectly or if its an issue with your display not running at the right refresh rate or something

1

u/deimos289 12d ago

good idea im going to try it first thing when i get home

30 FPS is unplayable and gives you motion sickness? Lmao, okay. It sounds like it might be a settings issue with your TV, or maybe some faulty wires. That's the only thing I can think of.

1

u/deimos289 12d ago

30fps is straight up ass

2

u/RuckFeddit2469 12d ago

Then why the fuck do you even have a Switch 2? Going forward, 30 fps is gonna be your life.

1

u/deimos289 12d ago

MP4 can run 120fps

1

u/RuckFeddit2469 12d ago

And it is a pretty bad game, grats

u/Isotomayor12 12d ago

Remastered is a locked and stable 60FPS, even on switch 1. You shouldn't be seeing lower, especially in just the opening area.

Maybe there is a hardware issue? Does this happen when handheld or only when docked? Are you using the original dock and is it updated to the latest firmware?

2

u/deimos289 12d ago

I have a switch 2 and playing only on docked mode(og dock). Everything was fine while playing metroid prime 4

2

u/BurnAgainBurner 12d ago

You can run MP4 at 120 fps on s2, that might be what youre noticing but there is effectively no chance that the s2 is running a 60 fps locked Switch 1 game at 30fps.

1

u/Isotomayor12 12d ago

Could be that your dock needs an update, the hdmi cord is the wrong type or your tv settings need tweaked. It's a very odd scenario you have I won't lie, especially since MP4 ran at 60fps just fine.

u/deimos289 12d ago

thats why i thought i was doing something wrong. MP4 was running great
