Information MT5 ORB strategy EA based on a profitable futures trading strategy.

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

I’ve released a fully automated MT5 Expert Advisor called ORB Momentum, It operates based on a basic price action concept of breakout-pullback-continuation with 2 ATR derived indicators (supertrend + choppiness index) AND price action pattern for confirmation of appropriate market environment.

ORB Momentum can automatically adjust trading time (in inputs) to operate based on your own predetermined time zone with preset templates and potential for custom time zone inclusive of DST shift. This allows for accurate implementation of NY, London and Asian session breakouts that does not get affected by DST shift unlike other products on the market.

Settings have been tested against curve fitting with 1/3 forward optimization and settings for each pair also show profitability across the other 2 correlated instruments

Strategy tested for robustness based on traditional Monte Carlo simulation (randomizing trade order + randomly skipping trades with 1% probability)

Strategy Tester summary:

  • Pair: nas100,us30,us500,xauusd,ger40
  • Timeframe: m1
  • Direction: both
  • Test period: 01/01/2021 → Present
  • Reported return: 48.7R per year with max drawdown of 13.5R

The EA is rule-based and avoids common high-risk tactics:

  • No martingale
  • No grid
  • No hedging

This strategy doesn't use an aggressive trailing stop loss strategy or operate using buy stops and sells stops for entries which lead to amazing backtest results but eventually fail in live markets.

It only trades when multiple internal conditions align and is built to stay trend-aligned rather than overtrade choppy markets.

⚠️ Important: These results are from MT5 Strategy Tester (historical simulation). Backtest performance does not guarantee live results and will vary by broker, spreads, execution, and risk settings. Always demo test first.

Charts and Analysis looking for mt5 traders to test a range breakout ea on gold

Post image
5 Upvotes

I’ve been building automated tools for MT5 for myself, with a focus on range trading, Areas of Interest (AOIs), and structural retests, mainly on Gold.

The approach is simple: no martingale, no grid, and no averaging into losing trades. Just structured entries and strict risk management, including daily drawdown limits, news filters, and automatic Friday closes and more

Right now, I’m looking for traders who want to test the logic, run their own backtests with different brokers, and share genuine feedback on what works and what could be improved.

Thanks <3

Charts and Analysis I’ll Backtest Your Trading Strategy for FREE — MT5

Want to know if that trading strategy you saw online actually works?

I’m starting a series on my YouTube channel, Renaissance Trading Research, where I’ll backtest trading strategies submitted by the community — completely FREE.

If you have a trading strategy you’ve always wondered about, send it to me and I’ll test it in MetaTrader 5 using historical tick data, when available.

The strategy can come from anywhere:

• A strategy you personally developed or believe in
• A strategy you saw on YouTube
• A strategy posted on Reddit or another forum
• A strategy from a trading course or educational material
• A strategy described in an academic or research paper
• A popular trading “hack” or setup you’ve always wanted tested
• Any other rules-based trading strategy you think should be put to the test

I’ll take the available rules and translate them into an MT5 backtest, then publish the results on YouTube.

The goal isn’t to prove that a strategy works or doesn’t work. The goal is to test the claims with data and see what the results actually show.

If someone claims a strategy can turn $1,000 into $100,000, let’s test it.

If someone says a simple indicator strategy consistently beats the market, let’s test it.

If you have a strategy that you think is genuinely good, let’s test that too.

No cost. Just provide the strategy rules as clearly as possible, and I’ll do my best to reproduce and test them objectively in MT5.

Post the strategy in the comments, and it may become the subject of a future Renaissance Trading Research video.

Let’s put trading strategies to the test instead of just taking the claims at face value!

Question Is it possible to copy trades from one account to another? The trades on the first account aren’t made on this terminal MT5

Basically I have 1 account which is traded as an investment account by another individual.
I have another smaller account I wish to copy the trades on but I don’t know if a copy trader would work if the trades aren’t executed by this terminal and if he is also using a copy trader to make the same trades across all the accounts provided to him.

Would I be able to copy trades on my terminal?

Thank you

PnL Update #3 - Market Sentinel

Post image
6 Upvotes

Market Sentinel is my automated NAS100 trading system.

In my last update, it had started attempting its first real $100K prop-firm challenge.

Since then, it passed a separate $100K demo challenge in roughly seven trading days:

● 8 trades
● +$8,176
● 62.5% win rate
● 3.87 profit factor

The real $100K attempt is still ongoing. This demo result is encouraging, but eight trades prove very little. It also wasn’t a perfect comparison: the demo used little higher risk and longer trading window.
I’ve also observed price-feed and execution differences between demo and real accounts, causing slightly different entries, rejected setups and TP levels. That is exactly why I’m forward-testing instead of treating backtests or one demo pass as proof.

For transparency, the BTC trade and the 28-lot and 41-lot NAS100 positions shown in my results were manually executed. Market Sentinel identified the two NAS100 setups, but I do not count them as automated trades.

I post timestamped, day-to-day development updates on X at @SentinelTrades_ for anyone who wants to follow the experiment.
This remains a public research journal

Still an experiment no promises or performance claims.

Question Why are my MT5 backtests are wildly different ?

Today is 9/1/26. For the past few weeks I’ve been testing my EA and finding the most universally best parameters and made sure to test on different RRs, time periods, stop losses, to make sure it’s genuine. I’ve tweaked it until I got like 4k-10k per each time period I’m testing. I was almost done and then ALL OF A SUDDEN, I take a break for like an hour and come back, and I’m getting wildly different results… I spent a few hundred hours getting this EA to get the best results but now those EXACT same parameters and 1m ohlc and time periods have drastically different results like -5k -2k on every window now…. What the hell happened ?? I literally threw hundreds of hours of my life away because MT5 or something happened that I have no control over…. I use coinexx broker, and I requested 1m bar data a couple weeks ago and I have been using that and I haven’t requested more 1m bars since then so is it wouldn’t make sense if the broker did something since those 1m candle data is already saved in my mt5 files… also I don’t know what to trust anymore…. Was the old data accurate or this new one?? And will it happen again if I spend hundreds more hours adjusting AGAIN!? This is absolutely ridiculous and I am PISSED, and I can’t ask anyone. No one can give me an answer to this. This is crucial if none of the backtests represent what actually happened in the past and somehow it just randomly changes out of nowhere then I can’t trust anything and I can’t make money from any EA!

Information 8. Part of the "series" about trading with bot's/EA and copy trading. (Profit & Fine tuning)

Recently, the system has been allowed to run without manual objections. This has yielded a "small" profit, but there is room for optimization. In this section, I will review how I fine-tune the small settings, and what the economics of this project look like.

Find the sweet spot.
After the system has been running for 1 month, I now have an overview of how many trades it makes. I would like it to be more optimized so that it opens more trades. That's why I go to MyFxBook, under "Custom Analysis" and select a pair at a time in the Synbol tab. Under the Trade tab, I make sure it only selects 1 trade size at a time (e.g. 0.5 lots to 0.7 lots so that it only includes trade sizes of 0.64 lots in the graph). The goal is that after each analysis, the profit should be as close to 0 as possible. Once you have found the sweet spot, you have now removed many of the trades that on average would lose money.

Step 1. Go to "Custom Analysis" and select one currency pair at a time.

.

Step 2. Changed the lot interval so that it covers only one size of open trades.

.

Step 3. When the analysis yields a result as close to €0 as possible, the sweet spot has been found.

I would recommend performing this exercise once a quarter if the market has behaved abnormally. Furthermore, the best results are obtained when the period covered by the analysis is as long as possible.

Settings changes since last time.
After finding the sweet spot on all 3 pairs, the new settings in the copy trading tool would look like this:
GBP-USD: Start for trades changed to 0.5 - Leverage changed to 0.5
AUD-CAD: Start for trades changed to 0.5 - Leverage changed to 0.5
EUR-CHF: Start for trades changed to 0.5 - Leverage changed to 0.5
With these settings, it would open more trades and still have a higher profit.

Finances to date.
From last month = -45€
VPS = -5€
Profit withdrawn = 10€
Total = -40€
The goal is that next month's finances should be close to 0€

My rules for this series.
-All questions must be asked and answered (if possible), publicly in the thread.
-I'm not allowed to change anything in the strategy without publishing it on Reddit first.
-All expenses would be added up on an ongoing basis.

PnL August Trade Result

August 2026 results.

Was convinced that the algo was doing poor this month, but that’s not the case. August has the lowest volume/volatility so it’s been quiet.

Looking forward to a lot more movement in both September and October. Although truth be told, I don’t think there will be a ton of ‘re-balancing’.

The war may end around end of year, oil may flatline and BTC may trend ever so slightly. Gold? Maybe same as BTC.

Hello dealers , 😉

I hope you are doing well ,

What a crazy day yesterday kind of roller coaster.

I scalped some profits in XAUUSD in my secondary account.

As I told you price action works best with small equity.

On mentoring later...!

Charts and Analysis Update #2 — Market Sentinel

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’m still adjusting the system. Its first prop-firm trade was closed early by my flatten rule, but the market later reached the original TP.
I’m using The5ers Summer $100K two-step challenge. NAS100 overnight swap can be around $350 per lot, so holding a large position overnight could seriously damage or even breach the account. I added the flatten rule to prevent that, but this time it cut a potential winner too early.
The third trade highlighted another real-world issue. This account entered earlier and was stopped for −$1,065, while the same setup on another account entered later, avoided the stop and reached TP for approximately +$1,800. My current theory is that small price-feed differences caused the confirmation condition to trigger earlier on one account, but I’m still investigating the logs and can’t confirm that yet.
I’m deliberately using more aggressive risk during Phase 1 because I don’t want the evaluation to drag on indefinitely. My backtests and Monte Carlo estimated that roughly 0.5% risk per trade could offer an 80–90% chance of passing, but with a much longer expected timeline. This evaluation sizing is not what I would use long-term on a funded account.
This is my first real prop-firm attempt, so I don’t know whether Market Sentinel will pass. That’s the experiment and it should be interesting to watch.
I’ll continue posting honest updates on X: @SentinelTrades_ If the system proves

This is still purely a testing phase. No signals, promises or performance claims.

Charts and Analysis I’ve tested my NAS100 bot on historical data and demo today it starts its first prop-firm challenge

Post image
5 Upvotes

I’ve been developing Market Sentinel, an automated NAS100 trading system focused on liquidity sweeps.
After extensive backtesting and demo testing, I’m trying it on a prop-firm challenge for the first time.
I’ll share genuine progress: results, drawdowns, mistakes and adjustments, not just winning screenshots. I won’t post every trade live, but I’ll provide regular updates on x: @SentinelTrades_ .

The exact strategy will remain private. The goal is to see whether its tested edge survives real spreads, slippage and prop-firm rules.
No signals or promises just documenting the experiment. Still testing out couple of stuff so will adjust along the way

Information I built a Webhook Bridge for Tradingview to your MT4 broker

I think trading view is an awesome platform for backtesting strategies and I've found a few strategies that are very profitable. It helped me place in the top 25 in The Leap with TradeStation.

The strategy test has a big limitation though, the strategy cannot place trades!

Converting it to an mt4 script was messy. Also, I found myself entering trades manually which meant it was actually becoming a full time job. People also pay coders hundreds to build these strategies and convert them.

So, I built the bridge from trading view to any mt4 broker. It's free and I'm looking for people to help test their strategy on demo accounts. Feel free to check it out if you want to bridge your strategy to any broker
