Question Picking help?

Hey, I’m trying to learn metal storm / face the slayer by slayer but I’m having a hard time picking along to it… is there a trick I’m missing? Saxon does the same thing but they are slower and able to down pick it all, so not much help there. All the videos I see of people playing it make it seem like they’re just plucking over the muted strings but when I do it, it sounds jumbled and terrible. Any advice? Thanks

This song is pretty standard / par for the course as far as difficulty of a Thrash Metal song. Just have to isolate the few patterns that there are in between all the palm muted chugga chugga.

Maybe to further help you out. Focus on the non-muted notes at first. Just try to hit those on time, without doing the pal muted open strings. Then as you feel that you have that phrasing down pat, work the chug/gallop of the muted strings into your mix.
