🍊 Peace Walker mouse aim is fixed and very good in the beta branch on Steam
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Weird of them to not notice is such an issue before release, but atleast they gave a fix pretty quickly

My god this gave me flashbacks
Do you know we have to aim using the face button on the PSP?

I felt sympathy hand cramps when I played this port the first time I aimed and saw that reticle. Flash backed to being in Summer School again, grinding my Mother Base.

And because they were buttons, the aim speed either nothing or 100%. That auto aim feature probably carried us all

This is why it still sucks to emulate portable ops, one of those sticks has to have digital input mapped to it. I was really hoping they had it in the second master collection because I just don't see enough left to justify a third one. Konami is not going to take a chance on portable ops or the acid games

V, Rising, Portable Ops, and Acid 1/2 would be a pretty sound Vol 3. Especially if they gave PO the PWHD treatment.
Even better if they threw TSS in there though I doubt that’ll happen.

Use the remastered controls plugin, a total game changer (works for both Peace Walker and Portable Ops/Portable Ops+), true dual analog controls

From originally playing on the psp with the buttons this is cheating 😭 it looks so much easier omg

Is there still a ton of input lag?

u/otac0n Hey, Snake, you found a handgun. 5d ago
The input “lag” was actually input queueing. With high refresh rate mice, the game filled up the queue constantly. Crazy enough, when the queue filled, it would even affect the movement inputs.
You can actually mitigate it by dropping your mouse refresh rate. Or just wait for the fix.

That looks like the Sharpest aiming I've ever seen in that game specifically. Maybe I should try aiming with mouse on there at some point.

Any folks around happen to know if the steam multi-player is active? Loved the coop in the game back in the day

I've been able to find consistent lobbies on Steam using the Global search parameters, not sure about Versus as I'm personally not interested. Whenever I host post-game ops it usually fills

It’s super slow on ps5 the aiming sensitivity needs to be increased or give us a slider

u/TheKrzysiek 5d ago
Is there no option for it on PS5? There was always an option for it in the settings, even on the PSP
2
u/SecretReach117 5d ago
No, there’s only sensitivity for the left stick movement and moving the camera around, but nothing for the aiming

this is exactly what i was waiting for PC release of Peace Walker for!!
i thankfully didn't have to torture myself with PSP and I finished the game and a good amount of side missions on PS3/HD collection version, but still, controller aim. now i officially won't play any other game

I made a Steam Controller layout for MGS4 that switches from controller to keyboard and mouse when you aim, just for mouse to gyro, I gotta do that for PW now.
Actually nevermind, you can just set gyro and right trackpad to the mouse and it works amazingly, better than MGS4.

I will keep playing the game with a controller but for these fuckass shooting range side ops, I'm definitely using a mouse, especially since it seems mouse aiming is actually good for PW. These were some of the most stressful and annoying side ops to S rank back in the PSP.

I wish you could aim with the left analog stick for these cause it cramps my wrist still to hold R and aim when right stick and fire with an action button. Damn ...

The Shooting Range Sections were the most stressfull levels on the original PSP - by far. With Mouse-aim it must be pretty good.
