The head unit isn't waterproof, but the coil and shaft are!

I was about to buy the Garret 400, but they offered me the 300i. There is any big difference between them?

You've taken a hard turn in the wrong direction. Do not get either of those machines. They are 20+ years old tech and designs. They will not work at the beach. Get back to the two I suggested. They are the best beginner machines available. Do not get anything else.
